She is the top "pop" country star here in the states. Many many "country" awards and top selling albums (if there is such a thing anymore).   She also was an American Idol winner.  To me she looked like she was really out of her element and the song , which I really don't like much, was a trainwreck.

I totally agree, what's a Country singer doing a "I know it's only Rock & Roll" song, boy! the Stones have really sold out with agreeing with this, I guess they had to go along with it,  now they got somebody like Simon Cowell telling them what to do, The Stones would never do this years ago.

Has the setlist changed AT ALL after Keith's set?? Since Staples 1???
I think not.

Nope. The last nine songs have been performed in the same order at all eight arena shows in 2013 - and all five arena shows in 2012.

With one exception. The opening night in London when they went over curfew and had to omit the closing song 'Satisfaction'.

In fact, the last 14 songs (ie from 'Doom and Gloom' onwards) have been static at all eight arena shows apart from San Jose (when they dropped D&G), CYHMK the other night and the last three shows when instead of Before They Make Me Run & Happy, Keith played You Got The Silver all three nights with Happy following it twice and Before They Make Me Run once.

The second half of a Stones gig must be the most amazingly predictable setlist in rock music. How can they not get bored doing that? Its as if they think they'll fall off the end of the world and be eaten by dragons if they even change the running order slightly.  The variation in the last three decades has been minimal.

This is why going to more than a couple of shows on a tour is boring to me. It's the warhorse parade. Paint by numbers close your eyes and it's the same show they've done for the last twenty years. War horses couldn't drag me away

My observations on the Gimme Shelter clip is that Lisa is as big as a running back but sounds as great as ever.  And Keith's playing was a tran-wreck....

The singer and drummer are in their stride...

How about a review from an unjaded, non diehard?

My childhood friend and Husband decided to spend the 1200.00 and take their 17 and 19 year old daughters. MaryLou isn't a fanatic but she grew up with me. Hence, by osmosis, she knows a lot more than the average fan and has a genuine love for the Band.

I provided some of my old Tee shirts and other gear, gave them a rundown of what to expect, and sent them off to Toronto like a proud Mama. I got a call after the show which mainly consisted of screams of "OMG, they are amazing".

Spoke to a very tired girlfriend last night. She and Husband were relaxing on the couch. The general consensus. "Best concert we have ever been too. We got hit after hit after hit. EVERYTHING we wanted to hear. We never sat down once throughout the show and my girls, especially Rachel (age 17) is now in love with Keith Richards. She has spent the day listening to Stones and reading everything she can find on the Internet. Paula, you HAVE to come over. They want to pick your brain."

And there it is. No complaints about the setlist or chord mishaps. Just praise. Loved the choir on YCAGWYW. Loved Mick's cape on Sympathy. Loved seeing Mick Taylor (the highlight of the show for my girlfriend was Rambler). Nothing but praise and awe of Mick's stamina and ability to work a room. Loved the applause for Charlie. Loved all things about Keith. For them it wasn't a concert; it was an event; a special night with memories to last a lifetime. Final words Rick said to me "At the end of the night, my daughter hugged me and said 'Dad, thank you so much for bringing us. This was one of the greatest night's of my life".

It's all about perspective!

Here's a pic of two new fans. The torch has been passed!!

Better to have four Mick Taylor songs a night than special guests in any place that's not a major venue (New York, Chicago, LA).  That would make the guests more of an event, and keep the bottom-scrapings off the bill.

And get rid of that goddamn gorilla suit - it's lost all context, and it never had even the authority of outrageousness.  I can't imagine why the press isn't making fun of it, unless they're all leaving early.

The playing is suspect, sure, but the real trainwreck is Keith's tone. Sounds unprofessional and not much better than what you'd hear from a part-timer shopping at Guitar Center.

I think it's time I stay off the Boards.
I'm about to see the Band for the first time since 2006.
I've waited a long time and never thought I'd see them again.

I'm very excited and I'm not going to let the RO, IORR and Shidoobee nitpickers ruin this for me.

This will NEVER be the 1969-72 Stones. Keith ain't EVER going to play the way he did in his heyday.

This is the 50th Anniverary celebration and from most reports from those AT THE SHOWS and what I saw at the PPV show, the Band is playing great, all things considered.

I'll reserve judgement until Friday night at the United Center.

I don't mean to be a downer, LadyJane. I wouldn't be going to both Philly and DC if I weren't excited to see the band.

I know Mel.
I'm just very emotional about the upcoming week.
Seeing the Band, gathering old friends together, facing the fact that some didn't make it long enough to make the journey with me.

Hard to wrap my head around the fact that I've loved these guys for 40 years and I'm going to another show!!!!!!

That is why warhorses are always played. Imagine if they had done 4 songs from ABB or Voodoo Lounge and dropped SMU/Satisfaction/HTW and Gimmeshelter....half the crowd would be wondering why they got Omahaed. Nice report LJ my wife attended with a friend who had never seen them. My wife said 8/10 while her friend was blown away.
