I've heard that - a few weeks ago. I also heard rumours of European shows, Japanese shows, Australian shows and Latin America shows.

This was before the tickets for the current tour went on sale. The idea however did seem to be that they werent planning too far ahead. Anything beyond July was tentative.

I still havent heard anything that I'd consider to be a solid rumour.

The problem is that the interest in this tour has been way below what the Stones and AEG were banking on.

So whilst I think the band would like to do more shows later in the year and beyond, a serious re-think is going to have to be required by both the band and any would-be promoter as to how these shows are going to be priced, and therefore how much money the Stones can demand. I'd be very surprised if AEG would take that risk again. And if they choose not to, having seen whats happened in the last six weeks, who will?

Other than New York (and even then only because they havent played there for five months), I dont think there's a market in the US or Canada (or anywhere really) for more shows at these prices.

Not enough oil barons since JR died

Chicago's always a big market I guess and they're not playing any other US shows within a few hundred miles.

Whether its big enough from AEG's perspective for them to justify three shows remains to seen. They reckoned Philly would get three shows, too - the demand wasnt there which is why they went with DC for the final show.

The original idea for this tour was that there would be 18 shows but in as few cities as possible. Maybe 7 or 8.

Anyone with any sense could see that there just wasnt a big enough market to carry that through when a band is demanding a $4.5 - 5 million guarantee per show.

They even had trouble filling arenas on multiple nights on the last tour - the strategy that worked best was to play multiple nights in strong markets - but do so several months apart to give ticket holders a chance to 'recover' from the open wallet surgery that they'd endured.

That was pre-credit crunch. Its a much harder sell now. While its understandable that they skipped it this time around, they probably could have filled a New York arena show (or two) easily enough this time because they havent played there since the end of 2012.

Ive said it before, but the ABB tour was basically a farewell to almost all markets (B and C markets if you like) and that if they were going to do future tours, then it'd make sense to have short bursts of touring, consisting of multiple nights in select cities. However, that formula isn't gong to work if the shows arent priced more reasonably. The Stones, on the face of it, probably wont worry as they'll get their guarantee, but their excessive demands have actually priced them out of the market for most would-be promoters.  Dainty & Branson decided not to touch this tour despite having done well in 2012, and I'd be surprised if AEG would take the risk again. Certainly not under the present format.

I'd say that what they do after this summer depends on whether they can eat a bit of humble pie and make their demands a lot less ridiculous.

Nope. Nothing like that at all. A combination of getting bored, being too busy with this site & the facebook page (I spend enough time as it is on internet forums) plus the fact that so much of it is going over the same stuff again and again. Just taking a break.

I dont think it has been.

The last two shows have been 'second nights' at their respective venue.

Its standard practice - and something most of us who go to multiple shows would want - to mix things up from one night to the next if they're playing at the same venue.

Theyre not going to rest the warhorses so for the rest of the set, anything goes.

They played ER at the first LA show on May 3rd. They didnt play it at the second show there. They replaced six songs from the first show with five at the second.

Similarly, they played it first night in Anaheim and didnt play it on night 2. There were five changes over those two shows.
