Thanks Gazza - glad someone is checking the facts.

I have met some really great friends over the years -- writing that all out reminded me of how lucky we all are to have such a great connection through this band.

It's a hell of a lot more than scoring seats and good setlists!

would need to check those (James Karnbach's book is a great source for listing the opening acts, if anyone has it) but off the top of my head, I presume it was Peter Tosh for the '78 shows, Living Colour for your Toronto '89 shows and maybe Vancouver too.

For 1997 -

Charlotte - Blues Traveller
Nashville - Sheryl Crow
Atlanta - Third Eye Blind
MSG - Fiona Apple

Atlanta 2002 - No Doubt
Nashville 2002 - Lifehouse

Toronto 2005 - Beck
Charlotte 2005 - Joss Stone
Atlanta 2005 - Wilco
Memphis 2005 - Los Lonely Boys
Atlanta 2006 - Soulive

Exactly. I knew it had to be the Jan 2006 MSG shows because I remember meeting you and Mindy before the gigs at Stouts - whereas I wasnt in the US for any 2005 shows.

Man, I wish I got to see them pre-1989. I begged my grandfather to let me go to Rome to see a show in 1982 while I was in Greece for the summer, but there was no way he was letting me go.

1-2-3. Instead I started in L.A., with three of the four shows (including the Clapton guest appearance) in 1989. In Living Color and Guns N Roses opening.
4. Sept. 4, 1994 in Foxboro. (Exact date thanks to ticket stub I tweeted a few months ago)
5. September 1998 in Athens. (Pyx Lax opened, the only opening act I can remember besides the 89 LA shows.)
6. October 2002, Washington (Landover actually).
7. August 2006, Cardiff.
8. June 2007, San Sebastian.
9. July 2007, Belgrade.
10. August 2007, Slane Castle.
11-12-13. August 2007, London
14-15. November 2012, London
16-17. December 2012, Newark.
18. May 2013, Los Angeles. (with Macdaddy via Rocks Off board)
19. May 2013, Oakland.
20. May 2013, San Jose.
to come ...
21-22. July 2013, Hyde Park.

Yeah me and the missus discuss that pre-party often.
Mindy just remembers you being too hot in your coat, then too cold without out it!

This sounds like fun...I'm going to see if I can remember them all without looking anything up.

1. 1975: Philly/Spectrum, opening act the Commodores. I was 17 and hitch-hiked to the show.
2. 1978: Philly/JFK Stadium, openers Peter Tosh, Foreigner; I think 38 Special tried to play afterwards but got their equipment trashed by the angry crowd.
3. 1979: New Barbarians, Pittsburgh/Civic Arena. No opener.
4. 1981: Philly/JFK Stadium, 2nd day; openers George Thorogood, who the crowd loved, and Journey, who were booed off the stage.
5. 1989: DC/RFK Stadium; opener Living Color.
6. 1994: DC/RFK Stadium; opener Counting Crows, who I missed. Tour opener.
7. 1995: Pittsburgh/3 River Stadium; opener Blind Melon
8: 1997: Philly/Veteran Stadium; don't remember the opener
9: 1997: Atlanta/stadium; don't remember the name of the stadium or the opener.
10: 1998: NYC/MSG; opener Fiona Apple.
11. 1998: Syracuse; opener Our Lady Peace. Met Nanky at a biker bar beforehand.
12: 1999: Pittsburgh/Civic Arena; opener the Corrs.
13. 1999: DC #1. Don't recall the opener.
14: 1999: DC #2. Ditto.
15: 1999: Chicago, opener Jonny Lang.
1999: Met Keith Richards at the Beacon Theater at a Tom Waits show.
16:  2003: Philly/Veteran Stadium, don't recall the opener
17: 2003: Philly/Tower Theater, don't recall the opener
18: 2005: Hershey Stadium, opener Beck
19: 2005: NYC/MSG. The infamous pouting across the street incident.

Oh hell. I know I saw them at the Meadowlands at least once. I think there might have
been another one I forgot too...yes, there was a big meet-up after another MSG show.
Ah well, I've got it all written down somewhere.

You or the opener?

Buddy Guy was the opening act, no less.
