[quote author=PartyDoll MEG link=1367631442/100#107 date=1367666752]I've maintained for years that for the last couple of tours, the musical highlights of most Stones shows often occur when they move away from the often tired 'rock anthem' mode and into stuff like country, funk, blues, soul, etc.
Yup. Any time they try something NEW and distance themselves from the usual tunes...the results are usually surprising. "Bob Wills Is Still The King" is my favorite example. The two new songs last night showed a very capable and confident group.
It's pretty amazing to see Mick strut his way through "Emotional Rescue." I mean, a new song like that, he's usually glued at the tip of the stage reading the teleprompter while eyeing Chuck for every little cue and change in the song. Last night, Mick trecked out to the tip of the tongue, knew exactly when the changes were and called out to Bobby for his solo without even consulting with Chuck. Mick must have done his homework and dare I say, it actually looked like he also wanted to perform this song too.
