I'd love Taylor to be there for the whole show (although he would definitely sound out of place on the post "Some Girls" tunes) but only if he actually rehearsed these songs.  Him noodling all over Keith's grooves and more importantly: Mick's singing was not very cool on the last string of shows.  "Midnight Rambler" slowly got better as the shows progressed during the mini 2012 tour but Taylor practically railroaded the entire tune.

I may be missing something here (only seen segments of the full interview), but in this clip there's a bit where Keith's in the audience laughing at himself?  Smiley

I'm in the minority when I say this - I want to hear and experience Keef and Ronnie weaving. I don't want a 3rd guitarist onstage for the entire gig.

That was great when both Ronnie & keith were up on their game as guitarist's, but with age it's not as good anymore, i'll take Mick T. as a 3rd guitarist anyday.

I have to say I agree with you. I'd prefer Mick T's play to be limited to a few songs

Songs like  Sway, Winter , Stop breaking Down, Midnight Rambler , Gimme shelter, Heatbreaker,All down the line , YCAGWYW, Angie ....

Thanks for posting the link SV! It sounds as if KEEF is saying he wants MICK T to play the enitre show but we know its up to MICK to deicde how that will work. Maybe KEEF feels it will take some of the pressure off of him and I'm sure he likes MICK T's playing ability. KEEF is no dummy, neither is Charlie who states that the best Stones era was the MICK T era. So we shall see how it plays out! I'm so excited I'm typing with my....Sticky Fingers! MICK T's best Stones album, right?

I reckon they'd wheel him out mid set. Some Tumbling Dice, Rambler & maybe a total surprise like Winter, Time waits for no one or even Cant ya hear me knocking. Rambler & any of those songs (OH, YCAGWYW!!) would be perfect. Then saunter into the usual Miss You crap, paint it black, blah blah blah, big finish, then have him come out for the last song of the encore. Or for We love you.

I really want We love yoU!!

Many songs just dont require 3 guitars, let alone MT soloing all over the place. He only did 1 song in 4 shows, and they cut it right back after the London shows as it just went on and on and on. Though he may restrain himself if he knows he's got more than 15 mins show time. But 3 guitars on SMU, HTW, JJF, Satisfaction? Just hope for the 1 ballad they will do, they put stuff like Wild Horses in the cupboard and try something MT actually soared on back in the day. Though Wild horses with him might be good. Love in vain even!!

Wonder how Ronnie feels about it all?

I saw Mick Taylor late last year between the London and NY shows in London and he said he never played Can't You Hear Me Knocking live with the Stones, "but I hope to."

So maybe he'll convince them to play that this time. The version MT did that night was awesome.

It would be awesome & him being back screams for not just Rambler but a big slower song to dazzle the crowd. And they havent really done anything as dazzling as some of the ballads they did with him. So i hope what they do is "his" song. I'd love Winter or Time.

My guess is that Ronnie is a team player and is OK with it. It's not like Ronnie has to leave the stage or give up his pay.

I don't give a toss if I'm in the minority or majority, I want him to slowly be eased into the whole show and then record with them again and then every other band and music act out there will, in the first time in years, know their rightful place behind the Stones. I just can't believe that he's playing with the band again. It's almost too good to be true.

It 's  certainly better to have Mick Taylor as a 3rd guitarist than Blondie Chaplin in the back of the stage , even if Blondie is a good player .

Actually I'd be interested to hear what he could do on   something like Beast of Burden.

By the way Mick T is here in my town of Adelaide next week. Should be good.Basically a pub gig.capacity about 300 - 400.

Well, the Stones start rehearsals next week. So I think that answers the debate as to whether or not Mick Taylor will be playing full shows with the Stones next month.

Not so sure now Gazza - just had a quick look at MT's website to read:

Scottish and Australian dates postponed

Due to unforeseen circumstances the planned shows in Reeth, Kinross and the Austrailian tour have been postponed. We will update you when there is any further information

This is very disappointing. I was very much looking forward to the gig and very annoying as MT pulled the same stunt about 12 months ago!!

I seem to recall Keith saying before the 02 shows that Darryl and Bill Wyman would have to work out who was going to play on what, which could have left the impression that Bill was going to be playing a lot more than he did. Keith is sounding similarly expansive about Taylor now—and I would expect a similar outcome!

Mick said recently that it was up in the air which songs, or how many, Taylor will play on. That leads me to believe that it'll be two at most, and, if we're lucky, the song selection will vary. Hell, if the MT slot features just one of a handful of rotating songs (CYHMK, Winter, Sway, Time, a blues), I'd be ecstatic.

Ronnie played with MT well before the Stones shows in Dec. He's absolutely cool with MT playing. As for pay. Lay off a hairdresser or caterer or two and they can MT a few bucks. What a post Ronnie!!!!!
