Yeah Gazza, So far all the shows currently selling presale tickets on Ticketmaster at the moment: Oakland, San Jose and Chicago all list the Tongue Pit Package at $1500.

I'm not sure what you mean here.

I was thinking about holding two windows open, one for each of the Chicago regular sales on Monday, although I intend on going to only one show.

Does TicketBastard not let you search/purchase two shows simultaneously from the same IP address ?

Nope don't do that..it won't work.

They do not allow you to have several windows open at the same time.

Yup.  You can test it right now with two random events but I remember doing it a while back and it didn't work.  I suppose it was a way for them to combat the scalpers.  Not a huge effort but it is what it is.

Dont you just love how they announce on TM a top price ticket of $600 (already fucking extortionate) and then when you go to buy them you suddenly find that the best tickets are $1500. You'd almost think they were ashamed or embarrassed to officially be selling tickets at that price - and then reality kicks in and you realise that these people dont have those kind of emotions.

Sounds fraudulent to me and not the first time thats happened (the 02 shows in 2007 were supposedly priced up to £150....but the front few rows simply never went on sale on TM - the only way you could buy them was to spend about ten times as much on a Fan Asylum package - but yes, Mick, we believe you, the Stones are against the re-selling tickets to secondary agencies....  Roll Eyes )

Their business practices really are for the most part indefensible.

And the 4  special tiers are $2000, $1500, $1250. and $750

EDIT: Their Dynamic pricing has now added tickets for $272.00 and $474.00

Question:

For those who got tickets today, how long was your wait time from making your selection to actually being offered tickets ?

The US sales were quite uneven. I was planning on getting tix for Chicago, which was going on pre-sale at 11 my time. So I practiced on Toronto, which went on sale at 10 my time. I just kept going back in. In the beginning they showed no pre-sale tix available, but after about 25 minutes a bunch of tix started to be offered. I was shopping the top price bracket, so I think a lot of people might have snatched them up, had second thoughts and then not completed the sale.

TicketBastard did try that old trick of selling crap seats to panicked pre-sale buyers. The first top price level seats offered were way at the back of the far end, or way at the back on the floor. This happened for both Toronto and Chicago. I just kept throwing them back, and eventually was offered seats in the area that LJ and I wanted. I think the key is not to panic. And definitely don't think the pre-sale is sold out just because seats are not available in the first couple of tries.

I know it is harder for the cheaper seats, as I'm sure more people keep them if they pull them, but don't let TM lead you to a bad decision.

And the fact that they added the show in Toronto and the show in Chicago during the pre-sales of the first shows really helped widen the ticket pool.

Good luck, West Coasters!

Yeah that kind of happened to me. Got in at 10. After a 15 minute wait,no $170 tix. Could of got great $600 tix. But I passed. Went back about an hour later and dropped my request from 4 to 2 and got side of stage uppers for $170. 5th row so not too high, Just hope they're not obstructed view. But I'm in for Oakland. Fuck you Gazza, Will ya?

It really is a huge blow.  For a lot of my favorite acts I like to go to multiple shows around town if possible.  That looks to be out of the question here.  You'd think they'd want to give their fan base a chance to see them a few times on the tour....we'd still be spending money on them after all.  Yet, they choose to deny us that option.

They added cheaper categories after they sold tickets in the $628 range? Surely thats misselling of some description?

EDIT: You can also say they gave us an opportunity to spend more because the cheap tickets sold out...
The upper end slowed down...so now they tempt you with another lower price...they are working it from both ends...

TM has been using the Dynamic Pricing model for about 2 years now...These boards have never expirienced it fully since this is the first tour since it started this practice...not much different than hotels and airlines do pricing.
That is how every guest/passenger is pretty much paying different prices...even in the same type of suite/row...

I can recall countless times...of camping out...staking a place in line at 7am...speed dialing from work...to get a great seat...there was such excitement
in "scoring"a great seat for the same price as someone 100 ft back and 1 or 2 levels higher than you. So many awesome shows growing up in NY!!!
MSG...radio City...Macy's for Ticket-Tron...all great memories and the friends you made that night were special, even if only until 10:45am the next morning!!!

Today...You score a better seat by selling a pint of blood, and taking an advance on your CC...(Thats the real sad thing Mr Jagger).

The game that TM plays with the consumer is much like a casino...the rules/odds are stacked against the player....and the HOUSE always wins!!

This is sooo true, Marvin (if anyone around here calls you that Wink). I waited in line for 3 days for the Steel Wheels tour and those guys I waited with were the bomb. I had gotten there first so I was in charge of the list. I got 35th row, I think they sold out in 30 mins.

I remember being PISSED that there were chicks in front of us doing the Belinda Carlisle Bop who didn't even know the words to Brown Sugar. Still. Good memories.

Regarding the 2 windows open thing. I have done it before for high demand events. It did work if I was logged in to 2 different ticketmaster accounts, but it slowed down my computer to the point where it wasn't worth it. It would have been quicker to go on separately and purchase the tickets. Maybe the rules of the game have changed.

Sounds like others have had the same issue.

I was thinking after that I should have tried one in chrome and one in explorer, and maybe that would work. I did both in chrome.

But in any event, I got both shows, and at the prices I first clicked on -- 4 at the second cheapest for Oakland (which was the second show I got through for) and 2 at the next higher price for San Jose (can't remeber off-hand exact numbers, but safe to say I could do a semester along with the college guy if I was young and smart.)
