There wont be any stadium shows in North America or Europe this summer and if they come back to Europe later in the year, there wont be any stadium shows there either as the venues wont be available - so I'd be very surprised if they go to the bother of commissioning a couple of stadium stages (and they'll always need at least two for any tour) for a short run of shows in Australia.  It seems that the only plans to pay outdoor concerts are at festival events where they're not responsible for the stage design.

Australia has loads of arena-sized venues - if anything its probably better equipped for that size of venue than most of Europe.

I think I can tell you that there won't be any stadium shows. They could fill the stadiums if they kept ticket prices low. Imagine 75.00 bucks a pop. They would sell them out.

I am guessing most of the reason is their age. Going out in the open air at 70 years old is risky, and harder on you, than if you have some shelter indoors even in warmer weather)....not to mention possibly more ground that needs to to covered by Mick on a stadium set. You cannot be performing out there in the rain at 70 years old even in warmer months... the body can't take the wetness and your much more likely to get sick. At 65 they were really pushing it. I don't think they can do consecutive stadium gigs even on these mini-tours anymore, sadly.

It is common sense. Do you folks know anyone 70 years old that excercises for two plus hours? Well that is what being in a band is like. Now do you know anyone that is 70 who works out in the rain, wind and elements? ... no.

>>Neither can they ... it's only common sense. There is a MAJOR difference between a 60 and 70 year old. At 60 you can still do most, if not all the things you did when you were 50. At 70 you simply can't do those things anymore ... and if you try...it could cost you. Playing in the rain for a couple hours should that occur is too risky at 70 years old. You can't do that even in the warm months at that age. Playing indoors is a much safer, more controllable atmosphere. Being out there in the elements even in the summer either won't work consecutively, or is far too risky at their age of 70. Not sayin they would crumple over...but I'm saying if Mick did have to perform in some rain or wind for a few hours he would get sick, or possibly even pneumonia far easier than if he were even 60 or 50 for that matter. If the spring yields one of those cool windy night and it goes down to 50 they would have a very rough time handling it at that age out there performing. If it rains that would be much too hard on them in those temps and/or too darn risky. At 70 years old being outdoors at night sweating is a different story...ask a doctor...he will tell you...

I'm not talking Stadium shows in Oz. I'm talking arena shows, but larger arena's than they would play. Most of our arenas are 10-15,000 - tops. But some of our smaller stadiums, with an arena stage, would be more in line with the plethora of U.S. arenas. If they come here, i dont see them staying long. Hit and run. Demand will be huge if prices are not insane. So a re-configured roofed stadium set up for 20,000 over say 2 nights, is better than 4 nights in 1 Aussie city.

I agree.

I got a collective family eye roll at Easter Dinner yesterday when I announced I would be traveling to see another show. "I thought you were done with them? That's what you said in December!!"  piss off

I went on to explain that I am a good little lemming, being summoned, once again, to the great Stonesian Sea.  The real Rolling Stones tongue

Unless there is evidence of them traveling to NYC for their customary hoopla ( even a small one)...I  believe the announcements will all be electronic...Facebook, twitter, RS.com, etc

Just a guess...

I think it would be cool if they just put up billboards in the tour cities...with the dates and venues...
and let everyone just find them in the morning...
let the reports trickle in and build up the hype that way...

Any other cities in 81 do that???

Did anyone else here on RocksOff win tickets that year???

that was a different world…. before promoters and ticket resellers/brokers/scalpers became the normal way for tickets to get released. As always, don't buy tix right away. Wait. only a few thousand crappy seats go to general public right away. Then everything else goes to 2nd party sellers who inflate the high prices even more. The last 72 to 24 hours before showtime is when you buy, and you have to be patient and have faith, but as history has shows us, you always get in, every time. The Jimmy Whitley taught me this, and it works, now he's watching over us, so we have that going for us too….

I don't think tickets are going on sale Wednesday.
That's not the way it worked for the Nov/Dec shows.
Announcement of cities and dates and tickets to follow.
I think the tickets will go on sale soon but not immediately after the announcement.

I'm not buying tickets immeduiately anyway I just want to know what time the announcement will be so I can figure out ways to get into the shows in the cities I will try to attend. I have no money or credit available so I'm living on a prayer till when I get paid again. I'm not gonna stress out about it this time, I did that last time and I ended up at 2 shows with last minute tickets. Pdog is correct about this in his post, waiting till the end you get a better deal but you gotta be watchful.

The tickets never go on sale once the shows are announced. There's always a day or two at least and these days you can bet there'll be a pre-sale window - if not for rs.com members (which may not happen as there's no paid membership option at present - although if they introduce a fan club premium, there would have to be a pre-sale option) then there almost certainly will be ones for corporate sponsors and/or the venue's own customers.

I'd imagine any announcement will be timed more towards US & Canadian customers as most (or maybe all) the shows being announced on Wednesday will be in North America. Mick may not even have anything to do with the announcement, and if he is, it's probably already been pre-recorded as it was for the November/December shows.

Yeah they probably have already made a video that will be shown on Wednesday. They won't put tickets on sale right away. They'll give fans a couple of days to rob banks. Mortgage their homes. Sell non-vital body parts. Spooky post

Indeed. Every tour  fans fall for the promoter/band/TM scamfest and panic-buy the most overpriced tickets - unless you absolutely MUST get the best and most expensive seats in the house, then bide your time. They will try and offload the most overpriced seats immediately (eg the nosebleeds or seats at the back which are priced the same as the floor seats in the first couple of blocks that everyone wants). It's a very cynical and unfair way of selling tickets, but as there's no obligation for the process to be done transparently, there's not much we can do about it apart from exercising a bit of self control.

If there are 18 shows, then that means there will be something like 300-350,000 tickets available. When you consider how high these tickets will be priced, there is no need for the most part to panic. Half of the bloody things will end up on e-bay anyway and with that amount of 'supply' in the market, would-be scalpers will struggle to get face value for anything on upper levels in most markets.

Set yourself a ceiling in terms of prices and types of seats that are acceptable to you and stick to it as much as you can. For the 02 shows I'd heard tickets might be £400 but I assumed that meant 'good' seats down front, so I'd set myself a ceiling of £200 for floor or first level only. When they went on sale, there was nothing on level 1 below £300 and there were even £400 seats available as nosebleeds so I thought 'fuck that' and walked away. I'd no interest in going after that until Taylor and Wyman were added four days before the first show, so I checked e-bay and there were loads of tickets available. I managed to get a pair for around £530 (face value was £400 each) on the first level and sold my spare for £300 (still well below face) so I was happy enough to have got a ticket in a price range I could live with AND to have got the satisfaction that a scalper had lost about £270 on the deal.

Can't wait for Wednesday!!! I'm still hoping for that Seattle show. I wonder if Mick T. will make appearances during these 18 shows.

I haven't heard anything about Seattle, BUT, I have heard about posters/billboards around Stockton, San Fran, Oakland, and Chicago. I'm hoping they'll come to Cali. Also, does anyone know if any credit card companies have announced possible presales? I know a few usually do when there are big shows like these? So excited!!

you made a grown man cry

Who has the exclusive CC rights w/ ticketmaster/Live Nation??

So I asked around on Facebook regarding CC rights for ticketmaster/LiveNation. A few people said that Citbank gives lots of deals (including presales, yay!) via Livenation. Do you think the tickets will be on sale through Livenation?

I freaking love that story!  I c hope I can make something similar happen myself.

18 shows per continent as opposed to two or three shows per continent should make it a bit easier.
