Halup posted this over on IORR. For useful info for anyone intending to go the tour opener, provisionally scheduled for LA on May 2nd.

The Lakers have made the playoffs and the NBA playoff schedule has been released. As it stands, if the Lakers-San Antonio best of 7 series goes to a 6th game, that game will be held at Staples on May 2, meaning the Stones show will have to be moved. I would assume it will go to May 3. We may not know until the evening of April 30 as to whether a game 6 will take place.

Here is the schedule:

SAN ANTONIO SPURS (2) VS. LOS ANGELES LAKERS (7)
Game 1 @San Antonio: Sunday, 3:30 p.m. ET, ABC
Game 2 @San Antonio: Wednesday, 9:30 p.m. ET, TNT
Game 3 @Los Angeles: April 26, 10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
Game 4 @Los Angeles: April 28, 7 p.m. ET, TNT
x-Game 5 @San Antonio: April 30,
x-Game 6 @Los Angeles: May 2
x-Game 7 @San Antonio: May 4

Wasn't there an NHL playoff schedule potentially affecting the date of this show as well? Have they been finalised yet?

So, anyway, as it stands at the minute, the earliest you'd know that there WONT be a game on May 2nd will be on April 28, and the latest you'll find out is April 30th.

Surely it now makes sense for the Stones' organisation to confirm an alternative date. Presumably May 1st and 3rd arent being used for any other event?

Why on earth did they schedule a show at this venue around this time to begin with?

NHL regular season ends April 27. The Kings should make the playoffs. As for the Lakers. I doubt seriously anybody has to worry about them making it to a Game 6.

NHL play offs start April 30, apparently and apparently the LA Kings would probably be at home in their first two games. How far apart do these games take place? Does this scenario likely mean that May 1st and 3rd would be unavailable too?

This really is shambolic and an awful way to treat any ticket holder, especially those who dont live locally and have to book hotels, flights, time off work etc. Why couldnt they have scheduled this show at the Forum or Sports Arena or somewhere like that?

There were no behind stage seats on the 2012 shows - I havent seen anywhere that there will be in 2013.

The way theyve promoted these tickets in the past shows says a lot about how their business and marketing model works. On The No Security tour, whilst the average ticket price shot up to over $100, they acknowledged that there was a limited appeal to behind the stage seats and priced it accordingly. I think the tickets went for $40.

On The Bigger Bang tour, they made them general admission, re-branded it 'On Stage Seating' to make it sound more appealing - although it was in reality 'Above Stage Standing with a Limited View of the Stage' and priced it as one of the more expensive tickets (in Europe it actually was THE most expensive). PT Barnum and Colonel Tom Parker would have been proud!

Interview with Bill on BBC radio London today, not a 'moany' interview as people have labelled his other recent interviews. Mainly talking about his book but with regards to the Stones he talked about;

a.) Him & Charlie very close, Charlie apparently rung him a few days ago for a chat before heading to LA.
b.) Very proud of his 30 years with the band, chatted particularly about Tumbling Dice, which was played, and how it wasn't as successful when released as they hoped.
c.) He will not be at Hyde Park as he'll be holidaying with his family in France.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p016y534 ; approx 1 hr 2 mins into the show

Thanks for that. I dont find his interviews that 'moany' about the Stones, myself. Journalists tend to like to take comments out of context for their own agenda and elevate them to a level of negativity that isn't really there - and a lot of fans generally take that at face value. Stones fans really should, after 50 years of lies and half truths about this band, be more aware of how the press report things.

Is he getting 'Tumbling Dice' mixed up with 'IORR' when hes talking about using a take that was recorded at The Wick?

Looking forward to the Scrapbook which should be arriving very soon!

I saw that...but try to buy a seat there, look at the 20th. It's wide open, far more sections available, but not behind the stage, could be a mistake as that is the only section showing. The others you refer to are the 45 degree angle seats they were talking about....but we'll know for sure in 2 weeks time.

Totally agree with you, the press are bastards. I think he may have got it confused, I've never heard of Tumbling Dice being recorded at the Wick, I assume he got it confused with LA.

Let us know what the Scrapbook is like, it looks a superb book. He'll have to wait for my order though, I've had my eyes on the Wyman bass far longer than the book.

I am never the kind of person to say "I told you so "...

Ahhh, Eff That!!

I TOLD YOU SO WEEKS AGO...these play-offs would have an impact on the tour...

but I NEVER would have thought it would be for the kick-off show...

BTW...There have been cities, like NYC/MSG...who have managed to have NBA as well as NHL playoffs in THE SAME DAY...

A cah is king day for vendors for sure!!
Maybe the Staples center can/would do that??

Why couldnt they have scheduled this show at the Forum or Sports Arena or somewhere like that?

hockey sometimes skips a day, in the playoffs, but not always… the championship series is at least a day between games.

GL LA ticket holders

They have done two events in the same day at Staples. But it's usually on the weekends.

I worked out the link before it was even posted (there was a simple code based on other cities).  I can still pull tickets right now (10:17 PDT).  Try this one if you are having trouble:
