Mick Jagger, Keith Richards: Stones 'raring to go'

...

He's excited about honing his chops with a variety of tour guests, particularly former Stones guitarist Mick Taylor. Ex-bassist Bill Wyman, annoyed that he was invited to play only two songs in London, declined to join any U.S. dates.

"He's a stubborn old bugger," Richards says.

Someone on IORR said that showed a degree of affection towards Bill's character from Keith. I think they were spot on.

With 80% of each venue only selling at $600+...can they afford an opening act???

They didn't have any support in 2012...I never even considered they may have some in 2013

meanwhile, the Daily Mail are telling us the sensational news that it would appear that 'Keith The Teeth' has had some dental work done. Tomorrow they'll be telling us that Brian Jones has died and on Sunday you can expect some breaking news that Mick and Bianca are getting divorced....

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2307806/Dazzling-smile-Keith-Teeth-...

Oh, and Mick reads message boards to see what songs fans want to hear, apparently.

The most stunning news in all of this though is that the Stones Hyde Park gig on July 6 will be held in front of a crowd of 500,000.  Roll Eyes

Not on the Stones' bill, though. There are four stages at this event.

Main Stage
The Rolling Stones
Jake Bugg
Tom Odell
The 1975
Vintage Trouble

Barclaycard Unwind Theatre
The Horrors
Public Service Broadcasting
The Family Rain
Valerie June

Village Hall
Adam Cohen
Fink
Hudson Taylor
Luke Sital-Singh
James Bay

Bandstand
Keziah Jones
Hero Fisher
Propellers
The Riptide Movement
Wild Smiles

Adam Cohen is the son of Laughin' Len, for those who dont know. He's pretty good.

the 8pm ticket time suggests no opening bands unless the Stones are going to play 90 minutes.

I'll be incredibly underwhelmed if they only 90 mins at Hyde Park, they better had give a 2hr/2hr 20 minute show.

On The Bigger Bang tour it was 7 for stadium shows and 7:30 for arena shows.

Opener 7:30 to 8:15

Stones went on at 9 or 9:15

The "official" app shows another Anaheim show on May 18 and LA on May 20, but they're not listed on rs.com.  Any idea when Anaheim May 18 goes on sale?

Mick and Keith talked about stadium gigs. I sincerely figured those were out of the question at their age. Being out in the weather is risky at any age....let alone 70 years old?? I thought they wouldn't chance that again....

but they talk about it as if it is in the cards in their future... (not on this tour...but possibly if they do more shows again).

I am not sure ...it may be BS.... I just can't believe they would consider it these days. As well, Mick seems quite bored with preparing for a tour. In fact, he comes right out and says it. Why bother then ... I mean come on...the guy doesn't need money. At this point they would certainly relax and enjoy the rest of their lives if they were not into the thrill and time of it all.

There was the usual talk about them wanting to record again, possibly right after the tour....but we have heard that how many times before?? Far too many not to take that without a bag of salt .... One thing is for sure...who wants to wait a decade in between Stones album's?? They are getting almost as bad as Aerosmith.

I missed this...where was this?

There's no new record happening. Mick's already acknowledged that his audience (which is not you or me) arent interested.

It might mean that but I thought it meant more that he reads the Stones facebook or twitter posts because if he read this board, the setlist would be vastly vastly different.

Where was this from, Roger?

Personally, I think the journalist is cherrypicking quotes second-hand and making them out to be something more than they are.

Interesting read, thanks for sharing. Great to hear that Taylor will be involved in a few more numbers, it was fantastic seeing him enjoying himself back in November, although on a personal level he was not the sell for me. Alas a greater involvement for Bill was not meant to be, I'd like him to show up at Hyde Park but if he doesn't I'm seeing the Rhythm Kings in August anyway.

Stones' facebook page have confirmed Friday 12th April (ie, yesterday) as the start date for presales for the four newly announced additional shows in Anaheim, LA, Philly and Boston - but true to form, the official website hasnt stated any such info, let alone a link.

http://www.citiprivatepass.com/landing/the_rolling_stones.html is the link for the presales, but even that hasnt mentioned the new shows yet.

Roll Eyes

Christ, no wonder they havent sold out any gigs yet.
