But where is Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3?

Why would you buy Tier 2 (like me) if you're in with all the Tier 1s?

Supposedly 65,000

STONES GIG SELLS OUT IN MINUTES<
By Robert Dex, Press Association Showbusiness Correspondent<
The Rolling Stones concert in Hyde Park sold out in just five minutes despite fan concerns over ticket prices.<
The 65,000 tickets for the central London gig went within minutes of being put on general release this morning.<
AEG Live promoter Rob Hallett said the response had been "incredible".<
He said: "We sold 65,000 tickets in the speed the system could handle it. If the system could handle it in seconds, we would have probably sold out in seconds."<
Tickets cost #95, although there were hospitality packages for sale at up to #299 but Mr Hallett said basic ticket-holders would not lose out.<
He said: "The band wanted the regular ticket-holders to be right at the front of the stage staring at the whites of their eyes, not 200 yards away.<
"The people who have coughed up for hospitality packages will get looked after in a way they have never known before. But when the doors open, if you can run faster than the next guy, it will be like any other general admission gig. You will get down front."<
The band will headline the Hyde Park gig in July -  almost 44 years to the day they played a famous free concert in the central London park.<
The band will also headline Glastonbury and play a north American tour this year.<
Their first Hyde Park concert, on July 5 1969, was only two days after the death of founder member Brian Jones and marked the live debut of his replacement guitarist, Mick Taylor.<
Guitarist Keith Richards said he hoped there would be "some emotion involved" in the new gig.<
He said: "Not going to turn this into the funeral, but any more than that, I think it's a celebration. I think that it's a celebration for everybody really, for Brian, for everybody that was there and hopefully for loads of people that were not there the first time round.<
"I'm really looking forward to it, it's an exciting piece of news when I got the news that we were going to play the park again."<
The band were criticised over the price of tickets for their 50th anniversary gigs at the O2 last year when the face-value price of the tickets ranged from #95 to #375. A "VIP hospitality'" ticket was priced at #950.<
But guitarist Ronnie Wood defended the high prices, saying preparations for the two gigs cost them millions of pounds. <

Mick Jagger on Rolling Stones tour: I suppose its some kind of achievement

Rolling Stones frontman says band is looking forward to May 25 Toronto show

PETER KEMP / AP

By:Ben RaynerPop Music Critic, Published on Fri Apr 05 2013

Maybe Toronto clings a bit too desperately to the Rolling Stones, but this city is to be forgiven, perhaps, for feeling a bit like a jilted ex-lover at the news that it wont be playing host to rehearsals for the bands upcoming 50 and Counting tour.

The Stones thanks mainly to a long-standing relationship with local concert promoter Michael Cohl have used Toronto as the launching pad for numerous North American road jaunts since 1989s Steel Wheels tour, including their last lengthy outing in support of the album A Bigger Bang in 2005. Alas, with Los Angeles-based promoter AEG Live handling the nine looming 50 and Counting dates in North America, including one at the Air Canada Centre on May 25, Hogtown will be deprived of pre-tour bragging rights this time around.

When the opportunity to chat with frontman Mick Jagger arose on Thursday afternoon, one question clearly presented itself: why ya gotta do us like that, Mick?

I thought you might say something like that, laughed Jagger. But yeah, it is kind of funny. It just worked out slightly differently, as things go. You cant always do things the same way, for different reasons. So were starting in L.A. this time.

People are very welcoming and friendly and we have great memories. Were very fond of Toronto and look very much forward to coming there. It was always great. And at least were still coming to Toronto.

True, this. Dates for the 50 and Counting road show, which quietly began with a handful of 50th-birthday dates in London and New York last year, are in much shorter supply than they have been on previous Rolling Stones tours. Besides the nine North American stops which kick off with a Los Angeles date in early May on a date to be determined by the NHL playoff schedule there are only two others on the books at present: a June 29 headlining appearance at the U.K.s Glastonbury festival and an outdoor show in Londons Hyde Park on July 6.

After that, I dont know, really, says Jagger. They always tend to expand a bit, but its not going to expand that much. Its just bite-sized pieces.

The original plan, he points out, was to simply do one gig in honour of the bands 50th anniversary. That didnt last.

We said we were not going to promise that were gonna do more unless we really think its enjoyable, and people like it and it makes sense, says Jagger. And I think everyone did enjoy it and the audiences seemed to like it. So we thought, OK, lets do some more. But I dont think anyone wanted to plan for 100 straight off, yknow? Nobody wants to stare down a kind of endless tunnel. When you book 100, it does feel a bit endless at the beginning. Its like doing 10,000 push-ups or something all at once.

I just think its better to plan OK, if we want to do more later, then well do more. But we dont want to be beholden to doing more.

Lets not forget here that Jagger, for all his cultivated youthfulness, will be turning 70 on July 26. Keith Richards is 69. Charlie Watts will be 72 in July. Ronnie Wood, the baby of the bunch, will be 66 in June. Hitting the road for two years at a time might finally be losing some of its appeal for the Rolling Stones. Theres only so much rolling ones back can take.

There does come a time when you obviously have to take that into consideration, that you might not be able to do it. But I suppose thats not right now, so its a We should be doing it type of thing, chuckles Jagger. I dont know. Im just living by 20 gigs at a time . . .

Fifty years is a long time, generally, to be doing anything and still be doing it and, of course, still doing the same songs, a lot of them. But I suppose its some kind of achievement. Youre out there in front of these people still doing this thing that you did in a club when you were 19, basically. Youre doing almost the same thing. So is this something to be achieved or is this just stupid? You should really be doing something more sensible.

Dont say this is the last time, then, but . . . well, you know how the song goes. So just in case, it might be prudent for fans to take up Jaggers invitation to post set-list suggestions on the Rolling Stones app or website or something. He also quips that any suggestions for Toronto-specific or Canada-specific guests would be greatly appreciated.

We rehearse all these unknown numbers and then we get to them and we go: Uh, I dont know if we should do that, he says. On those anniversary shows in England and New York, we were a bit gun shy of doing too many unknown numbers because it just didnt feel right. But I think because were doing more shows on this tour, we probably will spread out a bit. I mean, we rehearsed quite a lot of different songs that we never did and a few covers that weve never done and that sort of thing.

I dont know the set list. Well try to get a really good set list for Toronto. Im open for any set-list ideas. You can tell your readers that if they post any set-list ideas, Ill be happy to look at them.

Tier 2 is 'Golden Circle'. Tier 1 was the 'Diamond Circle' which I now assume is the Hospitality area on the left, unless there's some other FOS area they havent yet designated.

The only advantage I can see over the FOS tier 3 area is that Tiers 1 & 2 are roped off and its easier to come and go as you please throughout the day and is less congested.

Which is basically similar to the 'pit area' that you'd get at shows by several artists (eg Springsteen), which work on a first come first served or lottery basis in which you're given wristbands. The main difference is that in those cases, you're paying no more for your ticket than any other ticket buyer with a GA ticket

My guess is they'll add a Boston show on June 9, and a Philly show on June 15.  There's still room between May 31 and June 6, but not sure they'll add another.

Between Anaheim and Toronto, I could see a second LA show, and a second Vegas show.  I've given up on them adding a show in Texas (where I live) or anywhere like that.

That would bring them to 15 USA shows.  Assuming a 2nd Hyde Park show, that makes 18 total.  I think it had been assumed it was 18 total in the USA, but maybe it was 18 for UK+USA?

Its 18 for North America, plus the festival dates in England.

Expect a second Hyde Park show announcement very soon (almost certainly Saturday July 13th)

I think there will be two shows in pretty much all of those 9 cities.

LA, Oakland, Las vegas, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto will probably all get at least one more night.

Anaheim and San Jose may be a stretch to get two.

A lot of us won't. LA date is through AXS. If the Deoeche Mode presale was enough to crash AXS, I'm scared to see what the Stones will do. Probably set their data center on fire or something.

Ticketmaster is evil and greedy blah blah nobody disagrees but at least their site doesn't crash during high demand events.
--------------------

For both Staples and Honda Center shows? I used AXS to buy Pulp tickets last year and got shut out!

3 in Chicago? makes sense in that Geographical area.

If LA gets one more show then we will have 3 in the area. Staples to Honda is about 33 miles (although with LA traffic, the trip between the 2 often takes about 2 hours). Cheesy
