No,haven't heard anything else. But these guys go to all the big shows. So they know their stuff.

Has anyone got the full Planetrock interview? The one on their website seems condensed because someone on IORR said Mick talked about Mick Taylor and slagged off Bill Wyman a bit and that bit is not on the website version.

I think it was only bjornulf on IORR who managed to get people's hopes up by claiming tickets would be priced between $50 and $400.

Personally, I reckon he was looking at a 1999 No security tour schedule at the time.

I saw that in a variety of places as well. No idea where that rumor came from!

I'd love to go and see them in Hyde Park, but the date's pretty impossible for me, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for some shows on mainland Europe. Can't see them skip the old continent..

Hyde Park and Glastonbury will be the only Euro dates this summer.

I'd expect they'll do a run of arena shows on the continent at some point in the near future.

Mick and Keith were really having to bite their tongues in the Planet Rock interviews about future shows, but there was a bit of a hint about something in the autumn.

Rolling Stones to roll back the years with Hyde Park show and Mick Jagger may even wear dress again

The Rolling Stones are to play a huge concert in Hyde Park this summer – the scene of their most famous show.

The rockers revealed today they would perform there almost 44 years to the day they wowed 250,000 fans with a free gig there, just two days after the death of bandmate, Brian Jones.

Wearing a white dress, Mick Jagger paid tribute to Brian, who was found dead in a swimming pool, reading a poem, before thousands of butterflies were released.

Today Mick, 69, said: “I’ll try and keep the poetry to a minimum.”

But the frontman revealed that he still owns the dress and could even wear it again, adding: “I can still just about get into the zippers... you never know, I tend to choose my dresses at the last minute.”

And guitarist Keith Richards added: “It seems like yesterday. It’s going to be a great summer, man.

“All the gigs we haven’t done or wanted to redo are popping up.”

Dress for success: Stones at Hyde Park in 1969
Unknown
The show is on July 6, with the previous – and only other – Hyde Park appearance having taken place on July 5 in 1969.

Tickets for the event, Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Hyde Park, go on sale on Friday for £95.

There are three stages and the band will be supported by The Vaccines, The Temper Trap and Gary Clark Jr.

Rob Hallett of promoters AEG Live said: “The Rolling Stones are a true British institution and the true spirit of rock n roll.

"Their return to Hyde Park is a landmark event.”

The show comes a week after the Stones play Glastonbury for the first time.

Mick today joked about the Hyde Park show ticket prices, adding: “I’m sure there’s room over the fence for a few freebies.”

And a source close to the rock legends said: “It’s a good deal. It’s expected to sell out in minutes”.

American fans are not expected to get such a good deal when the US 50 and Counting tour kicks off in June.

The Stones announced the dates today, with prices expected to hit up to £330.

Tickets go on sale 9am on Friday from www.bst-hydepark.com

I've heard nothing about "a pit" for these shows.
Do you think they have ditched that great stage they used in Nov and Dec??

No according to RS.com, MICK says he likes it and they will use it again:

“50 & Counting has been pretty amazing so far,” said Jagger. “We did a few shows in London and New York last year…and had such a good time that we thought…let’s do some more.  It’s a good show.  Lots of the classic stuff everyone wants to hear…with a few little gems tucked in here and there.  The stage is shaped like lips and goes off into the venue so I get to run around in the crowd.  It’s great fun to be able to get that close to the audience.”

But those tickets were $800 PLUS so its out of reach for us.

Just looking at that tour schedule, especially the early shows, and it would appear that if theyre going to add second nights in some of those venues theyre going to have to be scheduled quite some time apart with other shows in the middle. Either that or Mick is going to do something he hasn't done for a decade and sing on back to back nights.

LA is 'early May', probably around the 2nd. Oakland is the 5th, San Jose the 8th, Vegas the 11th and Anaheim on the 15th.

Unless they come back a week or two later, the only option for a second Vegas show is the 13th. Theres no window for a second San  Jose show around the same time as the one theyve announced. Likewise with Oakland. They could play LA on May 1st and 3rd or maybe Oakland on 3rd and 5th instead., but thats about it. A second Toronto show would have to take place prior to the first one, otherwise theyd have to come back in June.  No problems with adding extra shows soon after the dates in Chicago, Boston and Philly though. Plenty of availability, although in Philly's case, June 16, 20 and 21 are the only available options in the same week as the concert scheduled for the 18th.

Odd bit of scheduling.

It'll be the latter.

Presales are all a bit of a nonsense anyway - especially if its a free one. May as well just put all the tickets on sale together and be done with it.

That would make sense...but the holders of these cards usually pay an annual fee and these are one of  "the perks" for that fee...

Barclaycard really excelled themselves with their customer perks today. E-mailed members about Hyde Park two hours after the on sale time at 3 pm , by which time there was hardly anything left.

Mick Jagger talks Stones tour, ticket prices and scalpers

Greg Kot
Music critic
3:32 p.m. CDT, April 3, 2013

A few hours after the Rolling Stones announced their first North American tour since 2006, including a date May 28 at the United Center, Mick Jagger called and answered a few quick questions.

Q: After the Stones came off the road the last time, did you think another tour was inevitable?

A: They’re never inevitable. Everyone had a really good time in the five shows before Christmas (in London, New Jersey and New York). We wanted to see how the band was playing, how people were reacting. We didn’t get too much moaning or complaining. What was quite good is that we set a small goal. We rehearsed for a long time, as if we were doing 100 gigs. But it’s helpful to do these things in bite-size pieces, so you’re not feeling there’s this dreadful endless thing of being on the road. You knew it was going to be done. Similarly, this tour has modest demands. At the beginning of the summer you’re done. We’re not going crazy, so everyone was up for that.

Q: Why did you book arenas instead of stadiums?

A: The Christmas shows were arena shows. We got that going, and we’re content with doing that. We’re doing a few outside festival shows in England, but we just feel more in the groove doing arenas.

Q: Your old guitarist, Mick Taylor, will be touring with you for the first time since the ‘70s. How did that come about?

A: He played very well as a guest in the shows last year, though he only played on one song. We had a lot of guest guitarists. It was fun trying to keep track of all of them. I was scared of announcing the wrong guy, like introducing Jeff Beck instead of Eric Clapton or something. I had to have cue cards in front of me with so many guests. Ronnie (Wood) would stand behind me saying, “You’ve got the wrong one!” But Mick Taylor played well, and he’s going to do a guest spot on this tour. I don’t know how many songs it will be.

Q: What about your old bass player, Bill Wyman? Was he asked to rejoin?

A: He played with us in London last year, but he’s not keen on touring. He made that very clear to us.

Q: Any surprises on the set list, or will it be mostly greatest hits again?

A: Well, we have quite a lot of songs. We will swap around somewhat. I’m interested in feedback and learning what people want. It’s a tricky thing for me when I do a set list. You get bored doing the same songs. Let’s say we do one ballad in two hours, and it’s “Wild Horses.” If you say, I’m tired of that, let’s try something less well known, and then you’re out there stumbling through this song you just relearned at sound check, and you realize people probably want “Wild Horses” instead of this (laughs). You do need to do some songs that aren’t so well known. The question is how many? I’m open to people posting their requests (Jagger has solicited songs on his Twitter account @MickJagger).

Q: I’ve heard from many people today who say they would like to go to the shows but can’t afford a ticket (ranging from $85 to $600). What do you say to them?

A: If you really can’t afford a ticket, it’s sad. I feel bad about that. But there are seats at different prices. We have some cheap ones that are quite good, too. There’s a price for everybody I think.

Q: People are already fretting that the secondary ticket market will gobble up most of the best seats and resell them at several times face value. What is your attitude toward these secondary market sellers and are the Stones participating at all in those profits?

A: I’m very much against the secondary ticket market. I don’t know anyone who isn’t. We have a lot of secondary market problems in the UK, it’s really bad there. And lots of artists are starting to participate in it, because they put the tickets up at a certain price, then the tickets get marked up by the secondary sellers and someone else gets twice as much as you. Personally, we don’t participate in it. That’s the view we take. I think it should be illegal, and in the UK. it would be very easy to stop it. It’s a very concentrated operation you could stop immediately. It’s a bigger problem in the U.S., more difficult to contain, but they don’t even try. It should be made completely illegal. If people don’t like it, don’t complain to the artists. Each state should make secondary reselling illegal.

Q: Is there any new Stones music or an album in the works?

A: I have a lot of songs and I’d love to do some more recording with the band. But we’re going to get through the tour first and then see what happens.

I did think that for a second but then thought it might be possible because of some lingering resentment that he left and now complained about the length of the performance. Thanks for clearing it up and thanks for the various links and interviews.
