Thanks everybody. It's nice to be remembered particularly as I have probably made no more than half a dozen posts in the last twelve months - 'tho I do check in most days to see what's up - which I realise is something I have been doing for over TWELVE YEARS!! - which, when I do the numbers, is over 20% of my entire life.
This, somewhat melancholy, sense of time passing was certainly highlighted by the recent "show us your faces thread" - so many come and gone (wherefore art thou Boomy?? - whither soulie?? - Nasty Habits - how could you foresake us??) and this feeling was certainly exacerbated by the recent sad passing of two members who were already here when I arrived.
It wasn't a bad day. In fact I scored a complimentary ticket to see Robert Plant last night. I wouldn't have gone otherwise but it was a very good show. I've never been a Zep fan the same way I am into the Stones but have liked a lot of their stuff. Plant came across as a very amiable and entertaining character and tho the years have dulled his vocal powers a little he's still got it. I couldn't help comparing what he's doing now with the way the Stones have moved into their "senior years". While he did a number of Zep tunes they had been re-cast to suit his band. Very nice version of Going to California. Rather than a greatest hits (warhorses) show he showed he has continued to work on and look for new avenues in his music. Made me think that Keith should have stuck with the Winos as his main gig after the great ructions of the mid- 80s. A bit lower in key to the glory days but with the emphasis still squarely on the music as opposed to the spectacle.
