I remember Fang very well from here and that other place.  I remember calling on him to weigh in as technical expert on the ridiculous notion someone had that Jagger played guitar on Highway Child.  Fang proved by algebra that it had to be Keith.

RIP Jimmy.  He was a cool guy and, like Zack said, his Highway Child post was a classic.  More than once he would send me e-mails of support and comradery.  Miss him....

The Jimmy Whitley ( Cardinal Fang ) was a great man ( Big Stones / Who Fan )   . We traded often in the late 1990's / 2000 .

This sucks   --- I still remember his Little Smiley Face at the end of his signature

Damn ...very sad, indeed. I missed seeing him around. Does anyone know why he quit posting a long long while ago? I mean, I haven't seen him on here in a few years possibly?

Really sad news again, shit!!

Without any doubt he was a great person and a great fan, he was really bright, funny, cool, very knowledgeable about rock, not just the Rolling Stones and he was sooooooooooooooooo Stone, stoner than Brian... Between many things he was the winner of one of our trivia, I’m sure it was the hardest; he won an original photograph by Fernando Aceves. This is him saying a public "thank you" to Rocks Off, he made the caption and sent this one to me

Also I didnt knew him, I'd saw many RO's members passed away. Horrible news this one to me. Seems that just  the good people has to go.
But now he's in peace with his mom and is in peace. Many condolences to the family.

That's sad.  I meet Jimmy once, with SheRat and PDog.  Fun guy, crazy, friendly.  And he knew his Stones.  Really sad news.

No.I am not Syph.Syph and I used to hang at concerts with Jimmy.Jimmy,Syph.and I had recently gone to see X here in Sacramento.Going to see X was a yearly thing,the next show won't be the same without Jimmy.Jimmy and I had gone to see Alice Cooper a few months back as well,whenever a band came near Northern California that Jimmy liked he would take me and turn me on to bands I really didn't know.He taught me a lot.And meeting the band after the show was always a given.He was fearless when it came to getting to meet the band.Anyway,I met She Rat(Erin) once when  they were dating,Jimmy still talked about you up until a few weeks ago.
Like Syph said Jimmy had Pneumonia that lead a heart attack,thanks for all the kind words I will pass them on to his family,Scot

Holy freaking Shit, I was great friends with Jimmy.  We traded a bunch f times, he was a huge Iggy fan.  Fucking hell, can't believe it.

That's sad news. Can't say I knew the man very well, but Fang was/is quite a legend on these boards. So I'll have myself a good glas of Laphroaigh and drink it in his honour. RIP

Oh NO. This is horrible news.  I haven't talked to Jimmy in years but once upon a time we came to the realization that, if we lived in the same town, we would form a band and live on pizza noodles (his funny genius words) and I was always keeping that one in my back pocket for when all else failed. Now my back pocket is empty.

I had no luck either. Steve Phelps was TTM's real name. He sent me a PM saying that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer, had about six months left and didnt want to go public but that he would just 'fade away quietly'.

He was last on here on 18th October 2008, which was about 2-3 months later. In accordance with his wishes, we kept his disappearance private until we did a thread for him on what would have been his birthday on March 27, 2009.

RIP Jimmy Cardinal Fang. Sounds like the man was well liked by many on the board  Any friend of RO is a friend of mine so sending a smile to his friends and family. A smile relieves a heart that grieves.

Do you remember how he got the name THE Jimmy Whitley? I think it was a misprint in a newspaper article but I can't recall right now.

Jimmy was so thoughtful to everyone...he had a chance to interview Joe Strummer once, and he contacted SS and I to see if there were any questions we wanted to ask since he knew how much we both admired Joe. And he gave SS a CD signed by Joe afterwards.

As a matter of fact, the only thing Jimmy ever did that pissed me off was dying.

Yes, Gazza you are correct.  SS was Cardinal Ximinez.  Those were the good old days.   

I remember when Jimmy made Katie's Uzi for me....

There is this the real football star in England named Jimmy Whitley but I really know nothing about him. Anyway, you know how people will sometimes post under famous names of other people? I didn't want people to think I was just using this English the real football star dudes name so I resurrected the THE JIMMY WHITLEY bit."

Very sad news, RIP

Oh man what a shame. I haven't been here in a while so I was completely unaware of Jimmy's passing. He was such a genuine guy. I only chatted with him on the phone a couple of times, but we hit it right off. We were very simpatico on so many levels. He called me at my radio station several years ago. I was on the air at the time, but we still talked for well over an hour. Great guy with whom I immediately clicked with. He made mention of perhaps coming to NYC should the Stones tour again, and he said he would like to get together and have a couple of beers and maybe catch a show at The Stone Pony, and see some of the sights in Asbury Park and the Jersey Shore. In a conversation that lasted just under two hours I really felt like I got to know the man. I'm happy for that. I only wish we could have had those beers, and seen that show at The Pony. He was a good guy that passed far too early. Golden journeys to The Jimmy Whitley.
