Wait a minute, wait a minute.... Could it be he's not exactly wrong there?

I mean, what part of a Rolling Stones audience do you think WE make? I'm afraid it's not a big percentage. Most of the people attending a gig nowadays might very well be just that. Rock n' roll tourists. And our boys, much as we love them, have done little to help change that.
I think it's a little more than obvious that Chris Robinson likes the Stones, and I don't see what he said as slamming at all.
I'd wager that Robinson is as much a Stones fan as most of us on here. I'm not a fan of his music, but I don't really have much of a problem with what he's saying about the audience the Stones target themselves towards. It IS like going to see the musical equivalent of Mecca, The Eiffel Tower, The Pyramids or, yes, Disneyland, for a lot of people - ie, something you have to do once in your life regardless of the cost. 'Box tickers' I call them. Another 'legendary' act for the bucket list. The event has become as important, if not more, than the content.
Don't really get the sincerity vs running around argument, though. Whilst I dont think the band's heart is in creativity anymore and hasn't been for a long time, there's no denying the fact that even in his seventh decade, Jagger is still one of the most amazing and charismatic entertainers alive and has forgotten more about the act of performing than pretty much anyone else will ever know.
