The NME Awards are being held in London this evening.

The Stones have been nominated in four categories (who would have foreseen THAT in the late 70s when magazines like the NME pretty much had declared war on them and their ilk!)

Best Live Band
Best Music Documentary ("Crossfire Hurricane")
Best Book ("Rolling Stones : 50")
Music Moment of the Year (the 02 Arena shows)

Ronnie tweeted last night that he'll be 'jammin'' with Johnny Marr (formerly of The Smiths) - this may or may not have been a rehearsal for tonight's show?

No chance of a Stones performance, but I do know for a fact that Keith is in London, so this info plus the four nominations would suggest that at least one or two of the band may show up :

And this week I hope they get an award unlike last weeks shambles.

Johnny Marr heads to the stage and kicks off the crowning performance of the NME Awards 2013. ‘Upstarts’ is the first track. Something tells me there could be a little surprise around the corner….

And now it’s ‘Sweet Nothing’ into ‘I Fought The Law’ with Justin from The Vaccines before ‘Sun And Moon’.

The zenith of the night is Ronnie Wood joining Johnny Marr on stage for an epic rendition of ‘How Soon Is Now’ before ‘There Is A Light That Never Goes Out’. Special moments like this don’t come around often. Everyone’s hugging and going mental. Palma Violets are dancing, Jen from Exclamation Pony’s on her chair, Harry from Peace is breaking out some ‘Saturday Night Fever’ moves. The security guards have to pull members of Peace, Spector and Palmas off their seats. “Behave yourselves, you lot,” Johnny Marr says as he leaves the stage after a magnificent performance. Godlike, indeed.

WOW!! I hope I can get to see that...

The Smiths are one of the 2 bands, ( I would like to see, anyway) still able to re-unite with all original members...the other being Talking Heads.
The Smiths were offered the headline slot for Cocholla and even agreed to have an all, non-meat festival for them if they did play...
