Glastonbury decision "in the Stones' court"

Alert Board Moderator about this Post!
The Rolling Stones are in serious talks with Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis over headlining the festival in 2013. Organisers said that the decision is now "in the band's court" after them having been formally offered to take the headline spot.

Keith Richards has said before that he would "love to" play at the festival, with Mick Jagger saying, "There are other things in the world, you know, apart from Glastonbury! But then again, Glastonbury is very important. It seems to be very important to my children - highlight of their year!"

Whether the band incorporates Glastonbury as part of their heavily rumoured - just short of confirmed - 2013 tour is anyone's guess, but we now know that the Stones have been offered a place and may well take it.

Show is already sold out so it wouldn't necessarily be an appropriate farewell for the Stones faithful.

My gut reaction would be no based upon the 750k they pay headliners and the fact that they made a paltry 1 million offer but Mick's kids want him to do it, not to mention camera crews will already be in place for additional footage for the inevitible DVD.

Maybe the younger Jaggers can come up with the other 7 million?

Some Guy, why are you looking for a good event for them to call it a day? Eager to not to be able to see them anymore?

Whoever edits Glasto's wikipedia entry seems to be convinced of the line up !

Playing a show to 135,000 festival goers who bought tickets for the event before any act was announced is a good way to bow out?

Yuck.

For what its worth, whilst the festival is sold out, they do release a few thousand more tickets after the line-up has been confirmed, so its not quite a closed door yet for fans of any particular act.

I do think they'll play it this time - Jagger's hints are really quite blatant - but I'm pretty sure it wont be their last show this year or ever for that matter.

If they do, then Sunday June 30th would appear to be the date to pencil in.

the stones will paint it black. as far as the rest we have some other prominent artists. ABBA? wouldnt they headline? and the BBC stage we will see a reincarnated Bing Crosby and Perry Como........drugs will be widely available and encouraged.

Festivals are the worst live venue to see a band. It often rains, the people at the shows are usually hammered, and you get a condensed version of the show which means warhorses. Apart from the fact that they will be on stage again, I could give a toss if they play Glastonbury. Of course, if he's playing  Wow! I'd watch them play a public restroom.

I like watching Glastonbury from the comfort of my living room - but I wouldn't go anywhere near it even if I was given a free ticket (and at £216 for the weekend, thats a very valuable free ticket)

There will be a resale of cancelled tickets on 21st April, although obviously we'll know by then whether the Stones will be playing the show or not.
