Tegan & Sara have a new album out later this month, the Rolling Stones will probably tour their 50th Anniversary jamboree to pad their 401Ks a bit (which may or may not include a stop at Coachella), and Lena Dunham’s HBO show Girls premieres this weekend. Add all that up and you get the Stones’ soulful staple “Fool To Cry,” as covered by Tegan & Sara, for the Girls soundtrack that was released yesterday. This is intense brand synergy of the absolute highest order, encapsulated in a Soundcloud. It’s produced by RAC, who has worked with the sisters Quin before. Stream:

Tegan & Sara’s “Fool To Cry” cover appears on Girls, Vol. 1 (Music From the HBO® Original Series), which came out yesterday. Cop it at iTunes. If you are into that show, last weekend’s NYT profile on Zosia Mamet is pretty great.

slightly off topic, but the woman who writes and stars in this series, isn't close to as cute as she looks in the pic…. she is one of the girls in the middle, one the right… the other girl in the middle is much cuter, and here they look the same…. and the star, is always getting naked… why do unattractive people get naked in public…? b/c hot people do not have too!!!

They have been around forever, but they started pretty young, borrowing money from their grandmother to record their first album.

I was really into them 2003-2004, If It Was You is one of the best CD's of the 21st Century. But I got pretty bored with them afterwards.

the pic is very touched up… the girl isn't ugly, and i'm not saying a women needs to look like a model… my ppint is just how much they changed her to look less like Adele and more like a model, than her real self… this is much more acurate photo of the cast… she is in the same position as the other pic… 2nd from right… fwiw, she is a great writer, I think the show was ok, considering it's about 20 something girls!!!
