Please no poet shirt at Hyde Park.

I would like to think that on this occasion he will at least wear a dress that befits a man of his age. He's not 25 anymore.

It was not a dress, it was a white "frock" and quite memorable obviously!

I'm looking forward to the Wells Fargo Philly show, MGM Vegas, and the NY or NJ shows when they get there. MetLife is the arena at The Meadowlands, it isnt the same as Giant's Stadium but its at the same location.  I read these 18 US shows will all be arena shows, not stadium shows which smart due to weather uncertainties.

Frock, shmock. It was still cross dressing. I think it was described at the time as a 'man's frock'. WTF is that?  Grin

Roger Friedbrain seems to be the only person who thinks some shows will be in stadiums.

They're not going to design a stadium stage for one or two shows. He also seems a bit oblivious to the fact that as the three UK dates will all be festival events then they dont need their own stage anyway - and his daft comment about needing a week to clean the park between shows sort of overlooks the fact that Hyde Park will be hosting six shows in 10 days.

I was really hoping they'd record another album but I guess that's not meant to be. I also feel that the 40 Licks tour was a really special experience. I was able to see all three shows in Philly - and those fantastic setlists tuned to the size of the venue. Clever idea! I hope this 50th tour sees them digging a little deep - but I think it's going to be warhorses for the (rich) masses.

there was never going to be any time to make and release a new record for a summer tour and I've never read anything in the last couple of years to suggest theyve the remotest inclination. They also have no contractual obligation to make a new studio album, which is another good excuse - no way are they going to go to that trouble when they dont have to and when they can make more money from a week of concerts that they will in record sales in a year.

Disappointing (if inevitable) though that is, what appears to be more encouraging is that there are offers being considered for further concerts beyond this summer. South America being one notable example.  It does suggest that they may be going down the touring route that a lot of us have wanted to take - ie short bursts of touring on a semi-regular basis for an indefinite period instead of the totally impractical alternative of spending 18 months on the road and then taking years off afterwards.

They could easily (this is their first US tour in almost seven years, which is incredible, and demand would ordinarily be huge), but not at the prices theyve been charging.

Springsteen is in Oz right now. Little Steven is filming in Norway so guess who Bruce has on axe? Tom MOrello! He did a 3 1/2hr show in Queensland the other day. And the dude does his research. His 2nd song was "Just like fire would", written by Queenslander Chris Bailey, who, many moons ago, was singer of The Saints (maybe THE 1st punk band). Reviews say he spent most of the night in the audience.

I dont care if the Stones come here or not. And frankly, i think there are few people who do care. The cost of tix would be utterly ridiculous.

Not according to StonesDoug. Since the tour seems likely to open on the west coast. He said rehearsals will be in LA.

I saw that Corgi. Props to Bruce for giving respect to the locals............Wouldn't be surprised if he busts out an AC/DC tune by the time he's done in Oz. Fuck you Gazza, Will ya?

Its certainly possible. After all, its not a long tour and they dont need that much rehearsal as theyve only been off the road a few months...so no real need to go to Toronto for several weeks as a way of minimising their time in the US for tax reasons.

Are you serious??
Dude, I don't know about you, but those 23 songs I heard in November
and December sounded pretty fucking good to me.
I wasn't in a position to get to a show then and I'm sure as
hell not going to miss them this time around.

I AM ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE ON THIS..I AM GLAD THEY ARE STILL AROUND.
JUST WISH THEY WERENT BLEEDING EVERY LAST DOLLAR OUT OF THE DIE HARDS THAT ARE LEFT.
I PERSONALLY WILL NOT SPEND MORE THAN $200 ON A CONCERT, WHICH MEANS I WONT BE GOING.

OK I certanly agree the ticket prices SUCK and the song selection could be more imaginative, but seeing the band I LOVE play again means so very much to me that I will do whatever I can to get to a few more shows! So what if it's the same songs, they are the greatest songs I know, and nothing tops the energy of seeing the Stones live. Even at their ages they still can rock the house better than ANYONE else! I am pumped about some more US shows, its been what I've been waiting for and looking forward to. It isnt just the concerts, its the excitement, the reuniting with friends old and new, a time to be happy! Sure I'm worried that I'll be behind on my bills again but I'll cut back in other areas and it will all work out. We will always have bills but someday we will no longer have the Rolling Stones so I have to see them now while its still possible. wow. I love that band and the thought of losing them makes my heart sink. Long Live The Stones!

Absofuckinglutely.  Life is too short is not a cliche but reality.

Depending on the calender, I expect to do more than one gig or city. I'm looking forward as much for the meet and greets and a C10 reunion.

Yes, I'm totally serious. I refuse to wear the rose coloured glasses and say they are just as good as they were in the 70's.  I'd rather have a memory of something that was once truly great instead of being "lucky" to have them still around.

A great piece of steak fresh off the grill is not the same steak if it's sitting on the table for three days. We all have our opinions, my opinion is they should charge between $50-$100 for a ticket, that's what you are getting....there is no way in my world to justify the $200-$900 ticket prices.

I will still continue to enjoy their music from the 70's and that's how I feel.  taylor made smile
