just wondering...
A while back we were talking about a RO Summit for the next tour, so is it to be Vegas or Chicago? I think those were the 2 places we were thinking of at that time, depending on the dates, etc,. Just trying to plan my strategy as far as making time for some R&R! Rock & Roll, not rest and relaxation!

They dont need to be together

They didnt do a press conference for the shows last year either. They did a video on their website, filmed during the Paris rehearsals. And in 2007, Mick announced the Euro tour on some sort of webchat.

No need to do press conferences anymore. Social media takes care of all that and reaches far more people.

They can also pre-record an announcement if they wanted the entire band to be involved - which is possible as they were together in London a couple of weeks ago.

Theres no major announcement needed as there's no world tour and no new product. I wouldnt be expecting ny blimp-style publicity stunt. This is only really an add-on to the 50 Years and Counting shows anyway.

I go on Ticketmaster and they say "sorry we have no tickets for the Stones, but we have Barry Manilow tickets"

Really?

With all the technology and snoop-ware in the world, and just plain common sense, why would you try to sell a Stones fan Barry Manilow tickets.

Now I am just pissed....

You live somewhere near Philly. Am I right? I think its a cert they'll play at least one show there. Maybe two.

Whether they're affordable is another thing I suppose, but hopefully its close enough for you that you can commute cheaply enough.

bv on IORR reckons now the US leg would start early June and continue for most of the summer - with a break for the UK dates late June - he says some dates have been brought forward but he hasnt seen anything for May as yet.

I find it hard to believe they'd tour ALL summer. Although of course we're only talking about 20-21 shows in total. And June-July isn't a 'spring tour' no matter where in the world anyone lives! If what hes saying is right, then May 2 may well be the announcement date as opposed to the start date.

however, they wont be waiting THAT long for the UK dates - well, not Glastonbury anyway. Returned or cancelled tickets go back on public sale on 21st April. The line up for the festival will be confirmed by the time that happens.

Giving fans a month or so at the height of summer to buy flights and book hotels for really pricey shows that are probably only going to take place in about 10 cities. Way to go, guys.

Seems odd to me that it would be reported that dates/announcement are due any day, and then push it off to May 2nd.

And from the sounds of it, the Stones are pretty much on-board and have given a green light.
Sounds like the PR/promo folks are the ones holding it all up.

Two veteran acts who appeal to the middle-aged 'They're very famous so I have to see them once and I have a lot of money' box-tickers. Simple as that.

In the entertainment business, thats the genre where the Stones are now. In the Streisand, Diana Ross, Eagles stratosphere. They just have louder guitars. For concert tours and events. they have more in common demographic-wise with those people than with pretty much any rock-based act.

I was gonna say 'except maybe U2' as theyre the only rock act who can sell more tickets than the Stones - and then I remembered that on their last tour, U2 priced their 'standing' pit tickets at $30, the cheapest category of all. The Stones made theirs at their most recent shows the most expensive at about 50 times as much.

Its no big deal and nothing personal. I'm just a bit busy with other stuff and there hasn't been much to talk about that hasn't been discussed a hundred times already. The Bowie adage of 'if you've nothing worthwhile to say, dont bother saying it' seems to be the way to go about things at the minute.
