Why MT played on Midnight Rambler (IMO)

Keith quote from the movie Crossfire Hurricane

...the essence of Jagger and Richards together I suppose it would be Midnight Rambler. Anybody else could have written any of our other songs but I don't  think anybody could have written  Midnight rambler except Mick and me and nobody else would have thought  of making an opera out of the blues...

Not sure when Keith said it, but it makes the fact that MT guested on it, the highest compliment that they could give to MT......other than hiring him back for the rest of the tour (still to come)....

PS

Did you notice MT doing the Pete Townsend windmill arm move at one point on MR (2nd show)???

What has happened to our quiet, demure little Mick?????

I do not agree. I think he guested on it because many people feel the version on Ya Ya's is the best one - and the Stones at their peak.

While there are better versions than the one on Ya Ya's, it was the only live recording of the Mick Taylor era that there was for years and years available to enjoy on local radio by the masses.
