Rolling Stones fans 'pay less for concert tickets and holiday to New York'
Rolling Stones fans left disappointed by the high price of tickets to the band’s concerts in Britain were tonight given a piece of good news – but with a catch.

Researchers found that fans wanting top flight tickets to the 50th anniversary tour concert, will pay less than half for seats in New York than in Britain.
Experts from the Viagogo site, a secondary ticketing company, say that, including flights, hotels and spending money, fans will be better off travelling to the east coast of America than try and secure the best tickets in Britain.
Tickets for the band's two concerts at London's O2 arena next month sold out in a reported seven minutes last week through Ticketmaster.co.uk, the official ticket seller and some are now being offered for more than £15,000 each.
The average price for a British ticket on Europe's largest ticket exchange is more than £700 compared to about £340 in the US for pre sale tickets.
Tickets for the series of concerts in America go on sale to the general public tomorrow ahead of the scheduled gigs on December 13 and 15 at the Prudential Centre, Newark, New Jersey.

But Viagogo experts calculated that it would be cheaper for fans to take a holiday to New York with top flight tickets than to try and secure similar tickets in Britain.
They estimated that for two people to purchase £350 tickets each, return flights, hotel and have £200 spending money, it would set them back about £2000.
Europe's largest ticket exchange said that more than 170,000 searches from British fans have been made in less than a week about American dates for the tour.
“Brits are jumping at the second chance to see the Stones live – especially now they can bag themselves tickets and a trip to NYC for less than some of tickets being listed to see the band [in Britain],” said Ed Parkinson, the director of Viagogo UK.
Rolling Stones fans, including a former promoter of the band, have since complained that TicketMaster's website has directed them to a sister company selling tickets for up to £15,400 each.
The website directs fans to Get Me In!, a so – called secondary ticketing site that is also owned by Ticketmaster, where tickets are on sale for more than 30 times their face value.
Two tickets in the A2 block – which is situated right in front of the stage – are being sold on Get Me In! for £15,400 each. The face value of each is thought to be £406.
A pair of tickets for their forthcoming British tour, were sold for a £15,000 at a charity auction today.
Tonight the band was due to play a surprise warm-up gig, their first in five years, during an intimate show in Paris. Just 350 tickets went on sale for the event after it as announced on its official Twitter account.

A lot of people are on ticketmaster just looking at prices and blocking things for those of us trying for seats!

I tried for a ticket for Saturdays show and the only one that came up was $813 so I had to throw it back. NOTHING for the lower prices popped up and I was on Ticketbastard at exactly 12 for an hour and a half! THIS SUCKS!

opps i should have posted here as i started a thread for sat show..i was in at noon refreshing.... never saw and 95/150 as thats what i went for but took one for $450 side stage.... only went there as it was saturday show as for so long i cared not what price was but this time i said no way on the $8XX bangers. heck we paid that much in 97 for Orange Bowl Show first row right next to bridge on keiths side.

anyhow knowing there will be more shows i wanted cheap ones as watching from different area for a change is going to be fun either way.

good luck to all as you know there will be tix that show up for various reasons.

Tickets remain for the box set seats in section 5, so this didn't sell out. Just the cheaper seats did.

Glad to see some of you got tickets!

I'm in for the 13th so hopefully there will be a ticket drop for the 15th and when I go to Thursdays show I'll see how many people are outside trying to sell tickets. I should be able to pick one up one way or the other. If not there is always pay-per-view! I wonder if the two shows will have similar setlists. We'll get a better idea after the two London shows and if they are very similar than I think I'll be satisfied with one show. Hell No, I wont be!

It'll be my luck that I do score tickets and a god damned blizzard will cripple the east coast that day and shut down everything.

I don't want to start any crazy rumors, but might it be possible they could add a Barclay's Brooklyn show or two?

Heres a question:

If a tree falls in the forest, but no one could afford a ticket to hear the tree fall. Did it really make a sound?

All I know is that when it left the station, it had two lights on behind.
