Probably similar arrangemen to the Amex one, ie the cream of the worst value seats for the price category.

You'll rarely get much quality and value for money wise in a free pre sale.

So you reckon there'll still be band 1 / band 2 tickets (definitely my limit, anyway) left by the general sale on Friday? Even after the wave of pre-sales is through?

I saw an article this morning claiming the Stones have "paired up" with the World Wrestling Federation for these shows.

I think it was one of those Examiner columns.  Oh no! not you again

Actually, WWE Productions working with touring bands on arena shows is quite common. They are tremendous with lighting, fireworks etc

Even smaller acts compared to Stones and U2 like Widespread Panic and Phish use WWE for staging, effects etc.

What did everyone think these tickets would go for? They usually bleed us dry with each tour. There's a lot of focus on the $750 ticket, but all I see are $95 seats, and $95 seats are my price!

the PPV will likley be $60..based on wrestling and fight prices. The buy rate for concerts is always way below fights and wrestling but even 250,000 buys is 15 million......still cant believe they are going live with no edits.....should be interesting but surely will lead to a safe setlist and few surprises. One thing we havenet focused on is Ronnie and how much sharper he has been last 2 years or so live. Might surprise us what having him "on" can do for the sound.

Pointless comment unless you have an idea how many of them are in that category. There might be 5,000. There might also be about 300.

The fact is that there are less of them with each successive tour. And if the London example is any yardstick, there are a lot more than ever in the most expensive category.

How you measure it is the average price. The average ticket price on the last tour was $167.  From what I read today, the £16 million/$25 million that the Stones got for these shows means that the promoters have to sell tickets at at LEAST £207 (thats about $350) just to break even.

So youre probably looking at considerably over $400 for an average ticket price. A 250% hike on their last tour.

Indefensible.

There will always be tickets in every category on public sale. No presale gets a monopoly on an allocation for a particular 'area'.

The only thing is that there were some prices on the Amex sale which arent on the general sale (I think it was $250 or something). Whether the seats are necessarily any better I doubt. Its sort of like saying its announced a free presale, but youre actually paying a bit more for the ticket in that block than you will in the public sale

What Gazza said...I do know that at the last AC show...there were $60.00 tickets...the entire back 3 rows of the opposite-stage section...an approx total of 120 seats went for that price...

Our very own beautiful GotToRollMe scored a ticket and sold it to me after she decided to upgrade w/ Lady Jane to the floor...

Bless her heart...we have been friends ever since!!!

Thank You Mary

What's pointless is complaining about the prices. That's pointless.  For years we've all wished for another show. Well, now we got it. If I cannot afford a ticket to a show in the dead of winter on the east coast, I'll get the pay per view.

For all of the great affordable items Stones, Inc. have sold us (great downloads, Some Girls two disc set, $20-$30 shirts at Macys) they've also given us $5,000 pin ball machines, $1,500 cd box sets, and lithos with questionable signatures.

Also, I was the lucky guy to be with Lady Jane and You Got To Roll Me on the arena floor for that AC show.

So from that derives that if you pay X amount for a certain block through Amex / o2 / Archive presale, and that gets you a seat in, say, block 102, someone else (who has waited until Friday's general sale) could also pay X amount but get a better seat later on, because that seat was not part of the pre-sale? Maybe even for cheaper?

From this it follows that the people who buy up presale tickets, in general, pay more for limited (therefore more likely to be worse) seats, depending on what blocks are included. So what drives people to buy tickets through a pre-sale? The mere sense of exclusivity?

This is making me lose my faith in any pre-sale. I'm trying to analyse whether it's better to secure a 106/166 ticket tomorrow at 9am (through the o2 presale - if i can) or take the risk of waiting until the floodgates open on Friday.

The question for me is which wave of sales (o2 or general) is going to take me further for my money... literally, towards the stage
