Mick Taylor is confirmed for the Faversham mOare-Music gig

A Boutique music festival in Faversham has announced that former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor will play live to just a few hundred people.

Taylor was with the Stones from 1969 to 1973 appearing on classic albums like “Let it Bleed”, “Sticky Fingers” and “Exhile on Main Street” as well as many of their world renowned singles.

The legendary musician, who will perform at the mOare Music festiva this weekend, was even listed in Rolling Stone magazine’s 2012 list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time, ranked at 37th place.

In a change from recent years, the 2012 event will move from The Three Mariners pub at Oare to the smaller venue at The Anchor Inn with Mini-mOare.

Run by record producer, musician and landlord Hamish Stuart, the two day festival in Abbey Street has announced a host of names for this weekend.

Stuart is well known for his time with the Average White Band in the 70s not to mention taking up a position in Paul McCartney’s backing band during the 80s and 90s world tours. He has also worked with with Aretha Franklin and Ringo Starr.

Stuart has organised the mOare festival for the last few years, and his ability to bring top names to a boutique festival has meant that the gigs have become a popular fixture in the Kent event calendar.

The 2012 show will feature former Fine Young Cannibals frontman Roland Gift, famous for monster hit “She Drives Me Crazy”. Also on the Saturday line up is popular jazz pianist and singer Shea Seger.

On Sunday’s bill, not only does Mick Taylor perform but vocalist Liane Carroll will also take to the stage. Carroll is another who has spent time alongside Beatles legend Paul McCartney as well as Gerry Rafferty and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Closing the show and headlining the festival will be modern folk duo Turin Brakes who have previously had a top five hit with “Pain Killer (summer rain)”

The Hamish Stuart Band will also play during the festival.
