Its an incredible logic, when you think about it, ie using modern technology to target what will primarily be an under 30's demographic.

The one demographic they've chosen to price out of being able to watch them perform the music they're aiming to promote, because most of them don't earn enough money to be able to buy a ticket.

Was it VooDoo Lounge Tour that the Stones had an ïnternet poll"for an audience song request in each city??
Or am I making things up again???

Anyone remember the Fox TV 3-D concert??

It was a rebroadcast of the AC pay-per-view show. Edited down to like 12 songs for TV.

And the kicker was you could go to your local 7-11 convenient store and buy a Simpsons Big Gulp and it came with a pair of 3-D glasses that you could take home to watch the show in 3-D.

I shit you not.

I still have mine.  They also filmed a couple of the songs specifically for 3-D content. I remember planets and moons zooming toward you as they played "2000 Light Years From Home".

Pretty lame!

I still have the show on VHS somewhere. Not that I'm in a hurry to dig it out.

It was pretty much on the level for the first part of the tour. The webchoice songs consisted of about 12 songs (which the Stones had rehearsed anyway) and then they'd be informed of the 'winner' a couple of hours before they went on stage and it'd be slotted in to the show

Then they started fucking about with it to suit themselves. When they did the St Louis PPV show in December 1997, it really was incredibly fortunate that they just happened to have Josh Redman on hand to guest on that night's webchoice of "Waiting On A Friend" - especially as he'd have looked very stupid playing sax on "Starfucker", which those mischievous fans had placed well in the lead by showtime!

By the time 1998 came around, they didnt bother with it at all on some nights, and some people were ripping the arse out of it by voting 200 times for "Love is Strong" etc - so by the time they got to Europe they were more or less playing what they wanted sometimes.

Was it Bridges? ..not Voodoo Lounge? Either way it was actually kina cool seeing the choices up there and the bars showing how everyone voted. It may sound cheezy and a bit out of their "just winging-it" persona in concert... but it was really sort of cool as it happened when I saw it.

Not sure if many people here are aware of this, but the German amazon site has the Super Deluxe edition of 'Grrr!' available on pre-order for just €39.99 plus postage.

That's under US $52.  On amazon.com the price at present for this release is US$234.25.  In the UK, it's priced at £99.34 (US $161)

http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0095VP0W8/ref=s9_simh_gw_p15_d1_i1?pf_rd_m=A3JW...

I know the site's in German, but its quite easy to navigate if you've ever used your own country's version of Amazon.  They may realise at a future date theyve fucked up, so it might be best to get in sooner rather than later.

Did The Stones ever cover Money? that should be their theme song at this time, never mind the fans,  even The Sex Pistols are honest enough to admit their only in it for the money.
I think this stupid Grrr is aimed at the now generation, the Simon Cowell crowd.

GRRR! App

To celebrate the announcement of GRRR! and reveal the striking album sleeve, painted by award-winning American artist Walton Ford, the Rolling Stones and Universal Music have launched an exciting global campaign which you can be part of.

To get involved you need to download the free uView app, for either iOS or Android. Once downloaded, use it to find your nearest tagged location, there are over 3000 locations worldwide, in 50 cities. Then scan the landmark or building with the camera as shown, let it load and watch as the cover image comes to life.

If you’re not able to get to any of the locations simply scan any Tongue & Lips logo (on a t-shirt, album sleeve or online) or the GRRR! cover art, and you will still see the 3D animations.

Click here for more detailed instructions.

The band have also launched an exclusive GRRR! competition for fans to take part in.

To enter, you must take photos of the animations in action by pressing the camera button or taking a screenshot. Submit your entries either by Twitter, tweet them to @RollingStones and include the hashtag #GRRR!, or email the photos to [email protected].

The best 50 photos will be chosen to win some great prizes including two very special prizes!

I vividly recall reading that by the time Undercover came out, they had enough material for 7 albums or so. Instead of another shameful greatest hits release, they could just tack on 2 new tracks, remix a bit and say "new product".

Which, as we know, they will not play live anyway.
