Happy 87th birthday Stu (1938-1985), the second Rolling Stone, chronologically. This year's highlight: Stu & Led Zeppelin.

Did you know that Stu is the only guest musician that appears on two Led Zeppelin albums? Did you know that he cowrote one song with them? He is a guest on the song "Rock and Roll" (Led Zeppelin IV) and on "Boogie with Stu" dedicated to him (Physical Graffiti, from the LZ IV sessions), both songs recorded with the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio at Headley Grange with Stu as the assistant engineer. It is important to note that in the entire Led Zeppelin discography there are only three guests, Viram Jasani who plays Tabla on "Black Mountain Side" (Led Zeppelin I), Sandy Denny who sings duet vocals on "The Battle of Evermore" (Led Zeppelin IV), and Stu. (Well, on "Kashmir" we have some unidentified/uncredited musicians playing strings and brass)
