Stones in Paris?

Thanks to CocaineEyes on IORR for finding the link

DirectMatin in France have reported a rumour that the Stones - including Bill Wyman - have been rehearsing at Studio Grande Armée in Paris in recent days

The original story (in French) - http://www.directmatin.fr/article/51479

The translation :

ARE THE STONES PLAYING THE OLYMPIA ON JULY 29?

That's the rumour going around Paris in the last few days. Recently, the Rolling Stones rehearsed in the capital in full (apparently with Bill Wyman on bass) at Studio de la Grande Armee.

Their additional musicians were asked to cut short their holidays to go to France.

The idea of Mick Jagger and the group would give a concert heats Sunday, July 29 at the Olympia , just to see what state the group is in.

For now, only one option has been taken in the legendary Parisian venue.

The Rolling Stones are given until Tuesday to decide whether or not their comeback on stage.

Their final concert in this place dates from 2003 , and their last performance in France was in 2007 in Lyon Gerland stadium.

The magazine Paris Match have also reported the story.

I'd certainly believe the rehearsal story - much less inclined to buy into the Olympia rumour, though.

Will be checking it out over the next day or two anyway, for sure!

I wonder what kind of pressure Mick and Keith feel about this being the 50th year and all that. I don't think they know how to handle it. It seems as if they are figuring it out as they go along.  Now if they can just put some new songs together...

Rolling Stones rehearsing with Bill Wyman in Paris; rumored upcoming concert

http://www.examiner.com
July 21, 2012
By: Carla Hay

The Rolling Stones are rehearsing with former Rolling Stones bass player Bill Wyman in Paris. According to Paris Match, the current lineup of the Rolling Stones (lead singer Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ronnie Wood), Wyman, and the band's regular backup musicians and backup vocalists have gathered for rehearsals at Studio de la Grande Armée.

Paris Match reports that on July 24, 2012, the Rolling Stones will decide whether or not to perform at the famed Olympia Theatre in Paris. The theatre has been reserved for the Rolling Stones on July 29, 2012, just in case.

The Rolling Stones have not done a concert since 2007, at the end of the tour for "A Bigger Bang."

In late April/early May 2012, the Rolling Stones rehearsed in the New York City area, with producer Don Was filling in for bass player Darryl Jones, who was touring in Europe. Those rehearsals were filmed for the official Rolling Stones 50th anniversary documentary movie directed by Brett Morgen. The movie's title and release date are to be announced, but it has already been announced that the film should be in cinemas for a limited time in September 2012. Eagle Rock Entertainment will release the movie on DVD and Blu-ray in October or November 2012.

As previously reported, Jagger told the London Evening Standard at the "Rolling Stones: 50" exhibit opening party in London on July 12, 2012, that the Rolling Stones will do 50th anniversary concerts in the autumn of 2012. Further details about the concerts are to be announced.

Since the Rolling Stones have already announced that they will not do a full-scale tour in 2012, there is speculation that there will only be a few Rolling Stones concerts this year that will take place in major international cities. Richards told Rolling Stone magazine in Mach 2012 interview that it is possible that the Rolling Stones will do a full-scale tour in 2013.

Wyman was in the Rolling Stones from 1962 to 1992. He has since released several solo albums and toured with his band the Rhythm Kings.

In December 2011, Wyman and former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor did jam sessions in London with the current lineup of the Rolling Stones. These sessions will also reportedly be in the Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary movie.

Wyman and Taylor also attended the "Rolling Stones: 50" party on July 12, 2012.

Fair point, but its hardly their fault that a newspaper decided to publish a rumour that had no basis in fact.

At least they've gone to the trouble of quickly rubbishing it.

On IORR some people are actually taking the wording of this statement as meaning that they're just rehearsing somewhere else and that there'll be a show but that it wont be at the Olympia. I shit you not.
