Avid 1960's poster collector Andrew
Hawley is seeking vintage Rolling
Stones 1964 Farm Show Arena,
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania concert
posters. The was the second to
last concert of the first Rolling
Stones U.S. tour.

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) June 14, 2012

Avid 1960's poster collector Andrew Hawley, from Vintage Rock Posters, announces his search for vintage Rolling Stones Farm Show Arena concert posters. The concert was held on June 19, 1964 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. According to Hawley, "The Farm Show Arena concert was the second to last performance of the Rolling Stones first U.S. tour. The concert was held on June 19, 1964. The tour supported the Rolling Stones' first U.S. album The Rolling Stones." Hawley adds, "It is hard to believe this concert was 48 years ago. The Harrisburg concert was a success but the following performance in New Haven, Connecticut was cancelled because of lack of ticket sales. Not even the famous local DJ Murray The K who was emceeing the New Haven show could save the Stones concert."

Hawley continues, "Murray Poster Printing Company, located in New York City, was a leading printer of rock concert posters. Though the New Haven and Harrisburg shows were only one day apart, two distinctly different posters were created by Murray posters for each show. Each poster features the same Stones promo photo, but the color combinations are drastically different. Also, the New Haven poster features a large photo of Murray The K. Apparently 150 Rolling Stones Farm Show Arena posters were printed and hung locally around town. A Stones Farm Show concert poster was sold at a Harrisburg auction house a few years back."

Hawley will pay $5,000 cash for the Stones 1964 Farm Show Arena poster or any other 1963 through 1966 vintage Rolling Stones concert poster. Any condition would be accepted. Please call 310-346-1965 or email andrew at vintageconcertposterbuyer.com.

"The Harrisburg concert was a success but the following performance in New Haven, Connecticut was cancelled because of lack of ticket sales."  I'm not positive the Harrisburg show could be considered a success...local legend has it that on June 19 1964 there were about 300 people in the Farm Show Arena, which seats several thousand. (A friend of mine was there, damn her! A decade later I attended many of my first concerts in the same shit-hole, which no longer hosts rock bands. The last show I attended there was Green Day in the 90s.) The Stones stayed that night at a hotel in Hershey, PA, where Mick called back to England in tears, begging to come home. "Everything's BROWN here," he reportedly said. I guess he didn't know Hershey is also known as "Chocolate Town", which explains the color scheme. Still, Central PA IS a drab place. I've got to give young Mr. Jagger that.

41 years later, the Stones sold out Hershey Stadium. I'm proud to say it was an EXCELLENT show, which I attended with my son.
