Has anyone ever changed their opinion on an issue based on what people post on blogs such as this?....course not ...it's an exercise in futility....the scarcest commodity found in blogs are facts....The Martin case is a microcosm of USA/The World where the media and Twitter etc blow everything up beyond reason. Zimmerman claims he was standing his ground. Was Martin not entitled to use the same logic? Now a trial will occur and teh facts may actually now see the light of day. Unfortunately those who have already made up their mind will selectively choose those facts that best fit their position.
I love this post. and like I said kick starting this topic, it will be a very interesting trial, it has all the ingrindients to make it sensational... but it also at the core addresses a very vague law that can grant permission to murder a person, and race is a factor, whether anyone likes it or not... the second it is addressed, everyone either points out the 911 calls or other crimes involving race... this is America... we all can get sucked into the politcal vortex, especially since it was done to call out grandstanders while grandstanding, who doesn't like that dog and pony show? I thin kit's very good that every american is aware of this, especially those who I see blaming the media, the president talking about black crimes... it points out how much fear we still have...
this case will raise anyone willing to look at themselves, to see if they live in fear... not rational fear, like if you actually are in danger... the fear that drives you to carry a gun and sit in a car, call the police when no srime has occurred... and in the end an unarmed child is killed... what happened in between, was fear... we know the child was in fear, whether he ran from his killer or attacked them, he did so out of fear... I know real fear and imagined fear... and the matter of law in this case, will hopefully address this, it should be interesting... stand your ground could be a law that saves lives, but in this case, it was used to improperly, you can not call 911 get out of your car carrying a weapon and claim self defense... hence, we have 2nd degree murder charges...
Regard;ess of the trila, i as a person do get to decide and have my own opinion, even if it goes against the law. What I do know is Zimmerman killed a child, that is known and already on record. Do I think he murdered the child on purpose...? My answer is, based on prejudice and fear, yes he did... and it goes beyond racial profiling... fear is so deep, that we don't see it and can't admit it. that is Zimmermans burden, not mine. He was pissed at someone, punks and people getting away as he said on his call... that's prejudice enough for me, not racist... there's a difference... most racism, like I said, is deep, we don't even see how the fear drives us when we living in fear based on an idea we have had our entire lives.
I am going to look forwar and follow this close, and I will request again, civility and respect the mods on abusive political rants and attacks... this thread isn't about Romney vs Obama or which prez was worst... I do understand we have a history of racism in america, and it will come up.. but please, be nice!
Let's respect that George Zimmerman, probably feels like shit and knows he made a huge mistake and Travon is dead, forever... these are two peoples lives one gone another ruined and countless family and friends hurt... let's not add to the pain.
