A question: I've heard stuff along the lines of that Mick & Keith were seriously considering firing Ronnie either just before or during the 1981 tour, and that he was almost fired several other times--Can someone give me the context of why they were considering firing him, and who they had in mind to replace him?

And also: If they were considering firing him, was Mick Taylor on line to replace him--Is that why he was there on guitar for most of the Hampton '81 gig?

And a last thing: I've heard Ronnie GREATLY resented Taylor being present at the Hampton '81 gig--Why?

I heard Taylor did a song or so with them on the '81 tour on one show. Is that wrong?

“What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there,” he says. “All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another.” - Keef

1) because he was freebasing like there was no tomorrow. George Thorogood was supposedly considered as a possible stand-in.

2) Taylor - no. Taylor just happened to be in the area on tour with the Alvin Lee Band around the same time, which is why he played with the Stones that night.

3) First I've heard of it.

Taylor played on the 14th December show, not the 15th. A correction is due on that page!

And both KC shows are available.
