Judging from these pictures alone, who would you vote for public office ?  Grin

Hey, B.J., you might be pleased to know that I early-voted for a Democrat in our Council-At-Large race, even though there's a Republican in the race.

The Republican is inexperienced in public service, but the Democrat has a proven record of fiscal-responsibility, with a tough stance on crime and government waste. Imagine that !

Quick look at that top photo & I thought of the Dem Hero, that champion of the bedroom John Edwards.
Oh, sorry, this thread is about Joe Walsh.
Couldn't ya find a better photo of the real Joe Walsh, he looks like  Nolte - The Rocks Off patron saint

John Edwards is not a "Dem hero"; he was John Kerry's biggest mistake (yes, bigger than saying "I voted for it before I voted against it").  And I like the Nolte-esque photo of the real Joe.

I saw The James Gang (with Joe Walsh) at Massey Hall (Toronto) early 70's, the opening act was Don MacLean who got booed, at the time "American Pie" was just starting to get on the radio so a Lot of people were not familiar with the song, I remember him going on & on about this American Pie, & one guy shouted out "Get The Fuck Of The stage!"
The James gang with Joe Walsh was the best version of that band, I had the album "Live In Concert" with the horses tied up outside, & there was horse shit all over, loved their version of the Yardbirds "Lost Woman' Walk Away being the big hit.

Wasn't Joe Walsh the first to use a voice box on his guitar? before Peter Frampton, he had this album "The Smoker You play the drinker you get" or some weird title like that, he had a song called "Smoking Mountain way" first heard this album at this party that this weird guy had across from Maple Leaf gardens, the guy had a pad lock on the door & you had to have a secret knock to get in, 3 of us were on acid, this guy had a kitchen closed of with curtains & he had hot knives for hash, & we would each take a turn to go in & do it, this guy had these granny glasses on the end of his nose, & he had a dog trained so that when he threw a lit cigarette on the carpet & said "Nixon Loved Fires" the dog would stomp on the cigarette & put it out, we were all on acid & freaking!!! when I think about it now, it's so funny but at the time, I was terrified,  I later saw this guy on Yonge St, giving out pamphlets for strip joints & he had the dog with him! he probably lived on Welfare & had these crazy parties.

I might think that there are those south of the Mason Dixon line who still feel Edwards behavior is, well, normal.

Great story; that acid's magick stuff, huh?  One correction:  it's "Rocky Mountain Way," not "Smoking Mountain Way."  Interesting that you mentioned Nixon, as many of us thought at the time that the song had some political content.  Check out these lyrics:  "Well he's telling us this/And he's telling us that/Changes it every day/Says it doesn't matter/Bases are loaded and Casey's at bat/Playing it play by play/Time to change the batter."  Now consider that the song came out in 1973, right in the middle of the Watergate investigation.  Nixon's henchmen kept changing their stories; the classic line from Tricky Dick's press secretary when they were caught in a lie was, "That statement is inoperative" (If you've ever heard that expression, that's where it came from).  We all thought "Casey" was Nixon and "Time to change the batter" meant time for a new President.

Was he even sober enough to know Watergate was going on??

I only know Joe Walsh from his semi-regular appearances on Howard Stern during the mid 80's.

I only know the 1 or 2 songs from TJG that have been played to death on those old rock stations...

I saw Walsh w/ Eagles in the 90's...he was the best part of the otherwise boring show...Very animated fellow

A talented guy for sure...underrated...like another poster said...
