Video: The Rolling Stones Get Introduced by Roy Orbison in 1965
by Josh Hart

I don't know what's gotten into the Rolling Stones, who have been posting all sorts of amazing archival footage on YouTube lately, but I like it.

The latest gem the Stones have shared with us is a TV clip from 1965 which features rock and roll legend Roy Orbison introducing the band on Australian TV.

The band then go on to perform "Walking the Dog," "Heart of Stone," and covers of Howlin' Wolf's "Little Red Rooster" and Chuck Berry's "Around And Around." Watch the clip below.

It's hard to believe, but Mick, Keef and crew are celebrating their 50th anniversary as a band this year. According to guitarist Ron Wood, while a tour hasn't been confirmed just yet, the band are "on the verge" of touring this year.

No,I'd rather you didn't make any political statements on a Rolling Stones message board.

That was a great clip! Thank you, EG!
Early 1965 was right before the release of The Last Time to be followed by Satisfaction.
Just hitting their stride.
Brian looks great, one of the rare times we see him singing. For someone who was soft spoken he had that deep growling voice.
Funny how Little Red Rooster starts and Brian's still reaching into his pocket for his slide.
Keith puts his all into the playing even though it's not live.
A shame no one has the Clay Cole Show appearances from NY the year before. Although lip synched they did a ton of songs and took questions from the audience.
Also they appeared live on the radio with Murray the K during their first visit to America. That's long gone too.

Irrespective of the political content, the cartoon is in dreadfully bad taste; the corpses of the cruise ship victims are scarcely cold yet.  Please remove this offensive cartoon.  And while you're at it, stifle yourself, Edith!

Hey! Glad to see you grew a set, Brainy-Boy, and address me directly rather than crying to an administrator.
Something that may have gone over your head is the similarity between that captain & Obama, in that they both run away from problems and tend to blame others.
I think most people who didn't like the cartoon simply ignored it and perhaps read my posts & moved on.

Enjoy the new pic, and I sincerely hope that ride doesn't show up at your doorstep.

Cool video---love to see them move at all, back then! Even if they are just "miming"... Wink

Brian evidently had 2 singing voices---the growly one for rockers, and a soft folky one that came out when needed. Smiley At least that's what I've read in several places over the years....

Looks more like the Republican health care plan:  1)Don't get sick; 2)If you get sick, die quickly.  Gazza, I feel compelled to respond to Edith's attacks on the President; if you'd delete them, I wouldn't need to respond.

Now that Edith has changed his sig pic, I call on FPM to take down his HIGHLY OFFENSIVE
sig vid of a Monkey preaching from the Bible.

Mocking religion may be de rigueur in certain circles, but there are plenty more where it is not.

Feel free to delete me at any time, Gazza and Voodoo.

You didn't see what Edith replaced the cruise ship cartoon with?  When he drops the politics, so will I.  Meanwhile, it's the money-worshipping hypocrite Republicans who are mocking their own purported religion.

It still boggles my mind why you guys feel compelled to use a rock band fansite to spam with political content when their are literally millions of other sites you can use to shove your agenda down peoples throats.

This is not about politics; it's about having and showing respect to those who have Faith in a

IMO, a signature picture is a subtle way of giving people a glimmer of who you are and what you might be like.
I see a difference between that and constantly espousing political views within the text of someone's posts.
If you happen to not like someone's sig pic, try reading his/her posts and then decide if you want to give that person any credibility.

We're all here because we have a common interest, but damn, we're not always going to be totally happy with everything.  piss off
