Kurt Cobain Would've Been 45

Same age I turn later this year... all I can say is, I'm so glad in my dark moments I held out hope, not knowing it would change or get better... I can honestly say, every problem I have ever faced, that felt overwhelming, like it would always be there and never go away, even those dark times when killing myself seemed like an good option... None of those problems exist in my life today... Kurt, I loved your band and your music... but you were selfish, and you did something that helped me realize life was worth living, better you than me brother...

Anyone want to talk about Nirvana?

If you look into it and ignore the conspiracy theories, there are actually some good hard facts that make it quite uncertain whether it was suicide or not. Well, not that it makes much difference now, just saying.

I count Kurt Cobain as one of the most talented, soulful and meaningful artists of his generation - and 20th century music in general. I don't think anything as good as Nirvana has happened again in rock music since then and I think it might take a while before it does. In a way I believe they were the last real band with the whole deal - the talent, the cultural influences, the personality, the depth. It's not an easy feat, to become the voice of your generation. And yes, of course there were lots of 'fans' that didn't actually get it and went along for the ride and the fact that at some time it was hip to like Nirvana, but I don't think that undermines their significance as musicians or their impact.

Cobain's story touches me on a very personal level, I don't know. All this condensed, magnificent youth and talent and mind, hurt from such a young age and going to waste before he could figure it all out. His outcast view of the world. His sensitivity and creativity and passion. I don't think press or people ever gave him due for what he really was - to most he was the stereotypical depressive junkie suicidal failure, while he was so much more, funny and clever and witty.

Well, what I'm trying to say is that I think music would have been so much different had he made it through, and even if he had become a sell-out, at least he really deserved that chance.

“What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there,” he says. “All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another.” - Keef

Gone To soon.................
And Yes Life is worth living, and ending it by your own hand or will is a selfish thing, the most selfish thing one can do.
Whether I was a fan or not does not really matter.
They the band and him had something that spoke to a large group of people, that says alot ,about anybody, thing, or idea.
This one is for the ages............... IMO

Watching MTV Unplugged and appreciating his genius once again.

This one RS cover way back had a photo of Cobain and header something like "The band that guaranteed the 90s wouldn't suck."  So true.  And Nirvana music ages so well.  Love it!

There is such a stigma towards mental illness that people are too afraid or embarrassed to get help.  So, they self-medicate with drugs or alchohol, with disastrous results unfortunately.

Depression, anxiety, etc.  All those things can be alleviated with medication and therapy.

Yoga, massages, and herbal teas can help deal with stress, but sometimes, you just need to seek professional assistance!  There is no shame in that!
