Sweetheart Together...

Just wondering...what is everyone's opinion on this song?

Is there a story behind this when it was written? ( I don't know the official Mick + ?? Or the Keef + ?? when it was written)
( Or is it a Mick + Keef song???)

anyway...I think it is a darling of a tune...I always have...
I love the slide...the simple lyrics, and the gentle brushes by Charlie
and the ever so subtle (accordion?).

Is it a bit sappy? Yeah, it is...is it a bad song? I don't think so...
===========================================

Sweethearts together
We've only just begun
Sweethearts together
We'll take life as it comes
Sweathearts forever
Two hearts together as one

Everybody needs someone
To tell their troubles to
To share the pain and laughter
In a world beset with fools
To help you with your ups and downs
Someone to heal your wounds
So we're

Sweethearts together
When two hearts beat as one
Sweethearts together
We've only just begun
Sweethearts forever
Two hearts together as one
As one

Everyone so cynical
And says that love won't last
Think about your future
Stop living in the past
Time's not standing still
So stop looking through those tinted glasses

Sweathearts together
We've only just begun
Sweathearts together
So glad I've found someone
Sweethearts forever
Two hearts together as one
As one

But love is never easy
It's never silky smooth
There's always something tempting
In the wilderness of youth
But I will stay right by your side
The truth will out, you'll realize
We're

Sweathearts together we've only just begun
Sweathearts together
So glad I found someone
Sweethearts forever
Two hearts together as one

It's a sweet song; appropriate for a wedding or singing along by the campfire.

A typical Jagger song. I guess it's not about his relation with Keith (lol) Not his best of course, but still I like it.

ya think?

It always reads to me like a few other Stones love songs - one with a bit of a twist in that the lyrics could easily be taken as a metaphor for Mick and Keith's relationship.

In this case, it touches on their relationship being rebuilt after a few turbulent years, with the emphasis that they'll always be 'together', no matter what.

As Keith put it, 'we can't get divorced'.

I always thought of it as a wedding song to young people, sort of a pep talk about love's virtues. As for me personally, this song is not on my top 100 list!

I get that vibe as well Gazza...considering it was on VDL...and i am not sure where between Undercover and VDL it was written...could easily
be about the twins IMO.

These are hardly wedding sentiments:

Everyone so cynical
And says that love won't last
Think about your future
Stop living in the past
Time's not standing still
So stop looking through those tinted glasses

But love is never easy
It's never silky smooth

Advice on the virtues of love and marriage from Mick Blank Frigging Stare

That would be taken as seriously as an anti-drug commercial from you-know-who...   Interesting stuff Ronnie!
