You could be forgiven for thinking Maroon 5’s irritatingly catchy “Moves Like Jagger” might annoy Stones frontman Mick Jagger. But he got on the dance floor and started throwing his trademark wobbly shapes as the song was played at the Double Seven on Thursday night. Jagger was a guest at a birthday bash for photographer Ben Watts, hosted by Jeffrey Jah, and which also drew model Behati Prinsloo, Ben’s actress sister Naomi Watts and her husband, Liev Schreiber.

Oh no! not you again

I think Adam Levine and Christina Agulara put that song together as a tribute to MICK, to compliment MICK. Dont forget it was MICK who selected Maroon 5 as an opening act for ABB when they were barely known, and Christina A sang a duet in the Shine A Light movie. So they both know first hand how MICK owns the audience, with the best moves in the business. MICK is getting some well deserved recognition as people of younger generations hear his name in the song. MICK gets the recognition he deserves! I'm happy MICK likes the song too! KEEF said to MICK something like, its about time one of your songs got to be number 1. So KEEF puts a dig in with a halfass compliment. Funny shit!

David Cameron teams up with Mick Jagger to promote Britain

David Cameron has recruited Sir Mick Jagger to help him raise Britain’s profile on the international stage.
11:43AM GMT 24 Jan 2012

The Rolling Stones frontman is to attend an event in Switzerland alongside the Prime Minister to attract investment in the UK.
The Great British Tea Party in Davos, organised by Downing Street, will mark the first time the singer has appeared at an event for a Tory Prime Minister.

Lily Cole, the model, and internet founder Sir Tim Berners-Lee will also be at the function to showcase creative British talent in the run up to the London 2012 Olympics.

However, it remains unclear whether Sir Mick, 68, will perform at the event or attend simply as an ambassador for Britain.
A senior Government source told The Sun: "Mick Jagger is a massive international celebrity who seldom has anything to do with politicians.

"So it's fantastic that he's agreed to help the PM sell Britain to the world in this very special year."
Sir Mick's beloved late mother Eva was an active member of the Conservative Party, however the singer has seldom aired his political leanings.

The tea party — officially hosted by London mayor Boris Johnson as the ski resort welcomes the five-day annual World Economic Forum from Wednesday — marks the start of an international campaign.

Rolling Stones - Sir Mick Jagger 'To Help Cameron Boost U.K. Investment'

24 January 2012 12:17

Sir Mick Jagger 'To Help Cameron Boost U.K. Investment'

Rolling Stones legend Sir Mick Jagger will reportedly help British Prime Minister David Cameron boost foreign investment in the U.K. ahead of the London Olympics later this year (12).

The rocker has been invited to attend an event in Davos, Switzerland later this week (begs23Jan12) in the hope his superstar status will encourage more companies to spend money in the U.K., which hosts the revered sports event over the summer (12).

A source tells Britain's The Sun, "Mick Jagger is a massive international celebrity who seldom has anything to do with politicians.
"So it's fantastic that he's agreed to help the PM sell Britain to the world in this very special year."

Supermodel Lily Cole is also expected to attend the event to help showcase British talent.

Not happening, according to the front page of tomorrow's "Sun" and this story on BBC online...

Sir Mick Jagger drops out of UK event at Davos

...
Sir Mick says he has "eschewed party politics" during his career

Sir Mick Jagger has declined an invitation to a UK event at the World Economic Forum in Davos after complaining he feared he would be used as a "political football".

The tea party, hosted by Prime Minister David Cameron at the Swiss resort, is designed to showcase British talent.

Sir Mick said he would now cut short his visit to Davos citing "inaccurate" comments on his political allegiances.

He said he had "eschewed party politics" during his career.

Others expected to attend the event include model Lily Cole and Sir Tim Berners-Lee.

Sir Mick issued a statement following stories in UK newspapers claiming he was backing the prime minister.

The Rolling Stones frontman said: ''During my career I have always eschewed party politics and came to Davos as a guest, as I thought it would be stimulating.

"I have always been interested in economics and world events.

"I now find myself being used as a political football and there has been a lot of comment about my political allegiances which are inaccurate.

"I think it's best I decline the invitation to the key event and curtail my visit."

London Mayor Boris Johnson is due at the tea party.

His spokesman said earlier: "The British delegation at Davos decided having a cup of tea and a biscuit mid-afternoon was the most frugal and efficient way of getting access to the global financial elite and to tell them about investment opportunities in UK, not least in this Olympic year.

"The mayor was asked if his name could be put on the invitation in order to attract the best crowd and be there to bang the drum for London."

Glad Mick dropped out....smarming around with politicians is a no win although he is entitled of course to whatever political leanings he wants. Maybe though someone may have asked about how much of Mick's own wealth even resides in Britain or how much he has personally invested in British companies?.....just sayin........

Mick Jagger is today in the top 10 of the UK singles chart for (as far as I can tell) the first time since 1985, when his Live Aid inspired duet with Bowie on "Dancing In The Street" reached number 1 ("Start Me Up" was the last Stones single to make the top 10 - in 1981)

will.i.am's single "T.H.E (The Hardest Ever) (feat. Jennifer Lopez & Mick Jagger)" has entered the charts today at number 3. It is also this week's highest new entry.

Stupid idea. Mick used to make fun of people in and around The White House. Folks in The White House didn't want Mick there and he didn't want to be there. Now he decides to become more like Bono and play there. Stupid and it's just another thing that goes completely against what he has always represented.... Mick is becoming more and more like Elton John every other month it seems. As I said... another really "gay" move there Mick (..."gay" representing stupid and lame not homosexual in any form)

Yep....terrible idea to use his influence to educate the ignorant masses about blues music.  Roll Eyes Something he's never done before, I'm sure.

'Ghey' in the extreme.

I thought Mick and Buddy Guy played great together at the Beacon for Shine a Light, Mick seemed truly into it--bluesy harp and shit.  Do all the musicians play together at these gigs or what?

Are you being serious? You are talking about "Sir" Mick Jagger right, the guy who hobnobbed with Princess Margaret in Mustique, the guy who is very much part of the establishment. He never really played that whole anti-establishment thing (that was Andrew Oldham's thing in the media and the Stones played it up a little bit). He's always been very straight and proper in that regard and so has Keith for that matter. The media just make up a bunch of crap. More like Bono? How is that? I don't see Mick having causes like erasing debt in Africa. He does his charity stuff and quietly at that so how on earth is he like Bono?

The gay thing is always a cop out. Whenever people say that they always say, like that sage Eminem, that it's gay as in stupid not homosexual, well then why don't you just say lame or stupid. The meaning of gay, ironically, is happy and bright so apart from the cop out, it seems an odd choice. And then Elton John + gay = not very convincing argument there Ian.

It's funny, we always want them to do more blues, but when he does, he gets criticized. I, for one, am thrilled. Because he does these awful guest appearances with garbage like Will I Am people forget that he's a blues player at heart. And what people also ignore is that out of all the Stones, the one who can hold his own on an equal footing with blues greats more than any other is Mick. Maybe Charlie as well but when Mick plays the blues and rhythm and blues, he shows the world the true giant of music that he is.

Yeah...there are worst things to do than playing the blues at the White House, Mick hasn't been "dangerous" since what...1978 and that interview on US TV with Ronnie where he wasn't clean shaven and sounded drunk?

It is an honor to be invited to the White House and MICK isnt stupid enough to insult the President of the USA by turning down an invitation for this event! Also, MICK loves to play the blues and he is fabulous! I am looking forward to watching this event on PBS!
