Thanks for the links, had only seen the first three last night. His voice seems to have "thinned" a bit but I'd rather have like that the growling one he had on Dirty Work back in the day. The falsetto on Miss You was really quite good, I don't think he'd really whipped it out that well since "Sweet Thing".

That was Pierre de Beauport assisting Mick, right ?

"LJ, what would you have done differently?"

As far as???

Look I think it's an honor to be invited to perform at The White House and I'm happy
Mick, the greatest frontman of all time, was asked to be the "lead singer" for this event.

I'll gladly watch it (after drinking a bottle of Pepto Bismol) and try to ignore the audience.

Just being honest............

That's my point.
Sometimes, events occur where the host has to be tolerated.
I saw Eric Holder in the crowd & let Fast & Furious & the Gitmo lies go.
It was a performance of Jagger which was more important than all of the other schmattah...

Was it me or did Buddy Guy have major sound issues?
How can this occur when there's so much tv downtime & soundcheck?

Mick did sound slightly off, but let's not jump to conclusions. Mick Jagger is the best of the best and last night's gig did nothing to make me nervous about the future.

I'm just happy to see him bouncing around a stage and to see THE KING OF THE BLUES Mr. BB King laying down some licks. The gig didn't cost me a dime!

I really enjoyed it, Mick was great, professional all the way, I liked his in between speeches, especially the one for B.B. King, I too kind of wish there was some slide Guitar numbers, instead of "Miss You" which has nothing to do with the blues, I agree with Sioux, would loved to have heard "I Can't Be Satisfied" all in all a great night.

Why not Miss You?  Isn't Some Girls the top selling Stones album in the US? I think that's why he performed it.

Yep and it was a treat to hear Mick's falsetto so well for a change, his guitar playing (mean rhythm player, eh) and harp. He could have said a few words to introduce it though, not blues per say, but some soul. Midnight Rambler would have been better I guess, but Keith would probably have blown a fuse in front of his TV.

I mean no disrespect to anyone here, but can my Stones brothers and sisters stay on topic? Mick Jagger just did a blues tribute with BB King. Who cares where they performed. I don't care if it's a stadium named for a bank or a large corporation or the White House-a gig is a gig.

I think he performed it because its a warhorse and he wanted to get the crowd going.

Simple as that. Unnecessary in that setting - its not as if there was the risk of a mass piss-break.

It was a pretty good performance (I enjoyed the harmonica), but an inappropriate and poor song choice considering the occasion and the numerous Jagger/Richards-penned alternatives that he could have picked instead.

Yeah, like the very next one regardless of who that may be! A used condom would do a better job than the Marxist we're stuck with now. Too bad Josh does not post here anymore. I'd love to get his take on the $5.67 per gal gas he's dealing with in Boca right about now. Oh, and for the record, when Bush left office gas prices nationally averaged $1.87 per gal. So just remember that 3 plus years after Bush left office these prices are still Bush's fault! Or are they James Polk's fault? No? How about Benjamin Harrison's fault? Anyone but Obummer's fault! That much we can be rest assured of, because the drones tell us so. So mode it be. All hail Obummer!

Jagger was great, the crowd sucked with teeth.

Perhaps Petrol Blues would have been a good choice? Staying on topic and stuff. Just a thought? LOL! That said I did feel bad for Buddy. He sounded crap. BB looked good. I remember talking with BB backstage back in 2002. He told a great story to the assembled masses about Maca calling him from the concierge desk at the hotel he staying in back in 1966 in NYC. He said that Paul told him, "Hey B get yer arse downstairs. Mick and I are going to see this incredible player down at the Cafe' Wha! He used to play for Richard, and we're in the car waiting for you." How'd you have liked to been a fly on the wall that night?! Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, and BB King watching Jimi Hendrix before Chas Chandler took him away to England?! True story.

B.B. did pretty well for a man of 86. He's looking quite frail now, though.

I remember the missus and I going to see him at the Albert Hall when we were on our honeymoon.....presuming it'd be the last chance to get to see him as he was 61.....
