Don't know if Mick Taylor left too soon or not. But here's evidence that he can still get it done. Thanks to OpenG for posting on IORR.

His decision to leave was maybe the most honorable thing any of them has ever done regarding the Stones. His heart wasn't in it, he didn't want to harm himself and probably his family, and he probably thought it was best for the band. He and Charlie Watts are my favorites because they seemingly have never seriously hurt anyone related to the band. Richards, Jagger, and Wood have acted like heartless twats before but Mick Taylor never harmed anyone, played amazingly, and when he didn't want to do it anymore, let someone else take over (at clearly enormous financial consequences for him and he was probably smart enough to know that he wouldn't make the same money that he did with the Stones). There are few or no things I can think of related to the band that are more honorable than that.

He left ... because his Rose ... keep telling him he was a bigger Star ... than the fading Glimmer Twins ... but once on his own ... he realized he did not have the drive ... to push a solo career ... I respect him for being one great blues rock player ... he should have listened to Mick not Rose ...  taylor made smile

I heard about his wife Rose, who was a big drug pusher & taker, in Angie Bowie's book "Backstage Passes" she called her a witch or something like that, Angie says that Rose gave her Heroin instead of Coke to snort outside a club, & she passed out on the sidewalk from it & could have got killed when her head hit the pavement.
