Right, the Stones are the Stones, but listening to these two versions shows that they were at the top of the world in 1973, but we already knew that I guess Wink

Enjoying the d/l. A great preservation of live Stones. Simply gorgeous!

For what it's worth, someone has already "remastered" it and posted it on Demonoid...I actually like it even better.  More punch and dynamic range, less volume...and Taylor's a little louder in the mix.

I can't get over Star, Star...never been a huge fan of that song but it's really amazing on Brussels...now FF 5 years to the Texas concert and, well, it doesn't sound like the same band does it Sad

Totally agree. Always been so so for me but this version is a killer.

Don't know if anyone from the Stones camp reads the boards, but in the event that they do a heartfelt thank you for releasing this performance from '73.  The qaulity, the pricing, truly a gift to the long time fan base.

Thank you!!

Except for Star Star, it's not that great an upgrade.  Bass and drums are better, but I can't help feel there was something malicious in mixing Taylor down.

Didn't really notice he had been mixed down and I'll say that  I really love MT's guitar playing, who doesn't, but honestly he was a bit "loud" at times in 1973...like he was on Dylan's "Real Live" a decade later.

having read alot on this and lsitened to alot of versions... it seems they brought Keith up, b/c he had been mixed to low and lowered MT a bit... which for me is fine for most of the songs, b/c there's times he is brilliant and othet times he is just noodling and it gets annoying... if I have to take the good with the bad, it's an even push, i like this mix, it will probably be my go to version from now on...

Downloading it now. As FLAC that is, so we'll see afterwards if i'll ever get it to play, or burn or put into Itunes...

Any artwork around somewhere?

Egon...Flac files will need to be decoded via Xact or something similar for PCs...VLC at VLC.org has an all media play that is very useful. mplayerx for mac is good too

I only want FLAC and have no problem paying for it so I am a bit puzzled why I can't just buy it. Oh well, I am sure I will figure something out.

That's funny, I burned the files to a cd using my old Nero 9 program (Nero Express mode)  I just clicked the box asking about the pause between tracks.  Worked fine, no gaps.

On another note, not that I'm complaining mind you, why are the Stones offering the those of us in the US MP3 quality files and Abkco is offering 24bit/176khz DVD-A audio resolution on all the Stones classics??

Someone is missing the boat here imho.  Are there really that many fans of the Stones, who have waited years for an archival release of this sort, now willing to listen after a decades long wait to this classic on an iphone or an ipod.  The average fan struggling to figure out how to put it on a format they're comfortable with.

Like everyone else, I'll take what I can get.  Just makes very little sense.

Can't help but think of the quality that Neil Young wanted for his archival material.  My guess is Mick's continued efforts to entertain younger/newer fans.

Seems a bug in nero. above worked for me as well, but if you go via NERO START SMART it does not take the settings

do the files stay tagged? I have used Xact to convert Flac to wav, but no tagging stayed, I've been using Max, but it has started tweaking on me since I upgraded my OS and updated it as well...

I have no use for wav files so I am not sure but I know Xact does support tags. I was just writing back and forth with the guy who wrote Xact because of an issue with the designation FLAC and batch conversions.

This is the best live release in the history of man.
I've had several near-death experiences driving while cranking up Midnight Rambler the past few weeks...

Only a shame Stones Inc. haven't promoted this - the general public need Brussels Affair!
