The Rolling Stones have released the first track from their upcoming Some Girls box set. "No Spare Parts" has been bootlegged for years, but this version appears to be have been punched up with new vocals by Mick Jagger – and possibly some additional guitar work by Keith Richards and Ron Wood. They recorded a lot of material for Some Girls, so this is probably the first of many tracks from the session to see the light of day. While "No Spare Parts" lacks the instant hooks of "Beast Of Burden" or "Miss You," it's a nice country-tinged number that probably would have made the cut for most recent Stones albums. In the late 1970s, however, the band was churning out some of the best songs of their career and "No Spare Parts" just didn't measure up.

The new edition of Some Girls hits stores on November 21st. They seem to be re-doing one album a year at this point. Future candidates probably include Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Beggar's Banquet.

It's hard to say really, clearly the track that got leaked was an early working version as there was no acoustic guitar and no lead guitar (no one seems to question when that was recorded), so it's possible there was a finished Mick vocal for it. Certainly doesn't sound like the way he sings now.

Gave it a bunch of spins yesterday and it will have another go after I finished listening to the excellent new dEUS album. Curious about the list of future releases btw. If they do a LIB or a Beggars reissue, they would have to deal with Klein's kin, or is all of that settled?

Black And Blue would be interesting I think, but then I'm willing to spend my hard earned cash on every deluxe album the Stones put on the market. I can only think of one album I wouldn't want to hear an extended version of.

Sticky Fingers is the obvious next choice. I they do the two pre-glimmer twins stuff, not sure how the legal end would work out. The good thing is, the stuff in the vaults, is not really in need of alot of tinkering, but Jagger will sing over it anyway. I think he's bored and wants to make Stones music no matter what.
My guess is, if they stay on course:

Beggars and LIB may have releases at anytime during this, but I'm really just guessing, if they even go further. And if it happens, they will speed up the releases, more than one a year. I wouldn't be surprised if during the Exile and SG work, they haven't already pulled tapes and started creating lists of songs to add or cut... If there's a 2012 tour, and regardless of a studio album or not, I bet we see SF and TY bonus/dlx editions... and if there's a tour, they will find a way to push the back catalog, and at this point, only deluxe editions are showing success to do that, and if no legal blocks, the first two of the big four as well... or nothing, and I just am wishing in the wind. IMO, since the selling of music has declined so much, that the time is ripe for them to do this, in some ways the other re-isssues make sense in retrospect, like 1994 remasters and tour and the 2002 SACD's and 40 year tour... There is no other way, I can see to bait our wallets, other than new/old music to buy, remasters aren't enough... especially the UMG ones, those were horribly mastered... a decline IMO!

if they were to release this stuff without better vocals, it would be shit, that 99% of people buying this would hate or listen to a few times... and it would ruin their legacy. The vocals on most of these outtakes are incomplete or not done well, they definitely were not in finished form for release...The songs that are finished, probably won't be tweaked, like they did with Good Time Women and I Ain't Signifying, otherwise, they have no choice... the real rish isn't pissing off a fan like you, who want demos and alts with warts and all, the rish is putting that out and being blasted for releasing crap they found in a garbage can, that's what most would say, and that kills a legacy... We have the boots, that's what you want, you already got it I hope.
