Nice.
I got to the film last night about 20 min early.
As soon as I walked in "Some Girls' was blasting.
The whole lp was played during the wait, with
still screen shots (see my post in Texas dvd thread)
of trivia. I was hoping that one would hear some
tidbits of the outtakes, however, no such luck.

I thought two things while watching the film.

1. Wouldn't it have been a coup to entice movie goers to the screening
   at a shot to purchase the box set that night? Probably the costs of
   such marketing would not permit this. I think they would have filled
   theatres more than 7 people (which was all there were where I was.)
2. Wouldn't be a hoot if the Stones secretly guest hosted on SNL in November
playing Some Girls songs?

Thanks for the link, nice indeed ! Dunno if they added instruments or whether there was a better backing track than what had leaked. The acoustic sounds like it could have been added recently. The lead guitar is new and sounds good, Waddy Wachtel ?

2:05:36 to 2:09:58 -> 4'22"

Let's give the leaked version a listen now...6:05 for the length of the original version on Paris Results 1 and 6:12 on Better Results, sounds the same with no cracks. New version might have been speeded up a tad.

I suppose the most important thing is that one of the world's greatest evils has been eradicated, although the news about Gaddafi is pretty big too.

I have to say, I did enjoy "No Spare Pats" having just listened to it on iPlayer. Ken Bruce was pretty condescending about the whole thing though...

Love it! Are these vocals re-dubs? It sounds like Jagger circa 1978 to me. That was my big problem with some of the Exile tracks. The vocals sounded too contemporary for my tastes. Especially given the circumstances surrounding the sessions at Nellcote in 1972, etc. This sounds more authentic somehow and true to the feeling of the original sessions. No Spare Parts has always been one of my favorite unreleased tracks from those sessions and I'm loving the fact that I can now understand what the hell he Mick's singing! Great!

Yeah, I thought that I had read that too. Anywho, it still sounds great to me! I guess it just sounds more authentic to me than some of the Exile over dubs do. Perhaps that's because Jagger's doing more of a character voice ala Far Away Eyes.

I'm pretty sure I read that too, on another forum, it erupted a few skulls... the argument is that some would rather have the hissy crummy sound stuff like on the boots, rather than cleaned up dubbed and re-mixed stuff...

LOL! Just listened to Watching The River Flow again for the first time in a long time, and I did indeed cringe! LOL! I just would have hoped that someone in the studio would have manned up and told Mick that it sounded like sickly treacle sweet, syrupy, cheesy, embarrassingly lame shite! That said, I still love the Exile reissue.

The Better Results version has excellent sound, it's just missing the acoustic, the lead guitar that plays fills and the new vocal. The end result is rather good though.
