great news... hope a dlx SG is still going to happen. I'm glad the DVD of the tour won't be attached to a SG dlx ed. I do wonder as Gazza mentioned, what will be going on the CD, since the entire show might not fit... but there was aa bit of time between songs... and didn't they already do overdubs and edit of the KBFH tapes that made up the bootlegs? I guess this and many other questions will be answered on our next episode!

Yes.

The KBFH 'Memphis' broadcast (which is actually just 2 songs from Memphis, plus songs from Detroit and Houston) would fit neatly on to one disc (obviously, 'Starfucker' wasnt broadcast).

Its also an even better collection of performances than the Fort Worth gig.

It'd be sweet if the CD consists of an entirely different set of songs than the DVD.

My KBFH tape is from Lexington, KY, it's a second generation cassette with the first recorded from the radio broadcast it has a very good quality but it's not an official release

There were two KBFH specials..one billed as 'Memphis' and one as 'Lexington'. The Memphis one was about 75-80 mins and the Lexington one was about an hour. Each had a few songs from the 'named' show plus others from Detroit and Houston. The songs have all ended up on the various versions of Handsome Girls bootlegs over the years (although those recordings come from the original source tapes - not the broadcasts). The version of 'When The Whip Comes Down' that was released in 1981 on 'Sucking in the 70s' comes from the KBFH Detroit recording.

From nzentgraf.de - these are the songs that were broadcast ("Starfucker" wasnt broadcast for obvious reasons although as far as I recall the source tape of it is on the bootlegs)

Sorry to trust but verify, but evo88 is the only website listing this release with an image.  Amazon UK has it listed for release on Nov. 21, but no image.  Nothing listed on Eagle Rock. While the text on the evo88 site seems legit, especially with the mention of Bob Clearmountain, I'd still like to see something on the Eagle Rock site or the Stones site to verify the evo88 site.  We don't want another Memory Hotel situation.

Eagle Rock needs to update their site...they're still hyping some Ozzy thing from a few weeks ago.

OTOH, this company's soliciting theatre business:

er... Mick isnt going to be doing a 2011 interview as a bonus feature for an 'unofficial' project....

Not to mention the band's official site having a distinctly 'summer 1978' theme all of a sudden...

Just because Eagle Rock's website team arent as quick on the draw as they should be doesnt mean its not happening.

Its legit. Take it to the bank.

the official FB page has the same theme too... next year will be awesome for me... two of my fave bands are touring big anniversaries... Stones 50 and Rancid 20... going to see Rancid this weekend in SF, they are even doing a Stones length set of 2 hours, most bands you're lucky to get more than an hour...

Saw this on IORR:

EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS
THE ROLLING STONES CAUGHT LIVE AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME
SOME GIRLS LIVE IN TEXAS 1978
LIVE CONCERT OUT ON DVD AND BLU-RAY NOVEMBER 21

New York, NY (September 8, 2011)– Continuing their partnership with the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world, Eagle Rock Entertainment have announced the DVD and Blu-Ray release of The Rolling Stones Some Girls Live in Texas 1978. Available for the first time ever on November 21, Some Girls Live in Texas 1978 features Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and Bill Wyman live in concert during the 1978 US tour which followed the release of their groundbreaking album Some Girls. [Pre-book order date October 28, MSRP $14.98 for DVD, $19.98 for Blu-ray, and TBA for DVD/CD and Blu-ray/CD].

Some Girls Live in Texas 1978 comes hot on the heels of the huge success of 2010’s Stones in Exile and Ladies & Gentlemen and marks the next stage in the Eagle Vision / Rolling Stones enterprise. Some Girls Live in Texas 1978 will be available on four different formats: DVD, Blu-Ray, plus special edition DVD + CD and Blu-Ray + CD digipack presentations including a reproduction tour program. Bonus features on all formats will include a new interview with Mick Jagger. Worldwide theatrical distribution deals including the US (in October 2011) will be announced soon.

Capturing The Rolling Stones at their live best, and fully restored to the highest level of picture and sound quality, Some Girls Live in Texas 1978 was filmed at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Forth Worth, Texas on July 18, 1978 on what many fans consider to be one of the band’s greatest tours. This was due to the band’s ‘back to basics’ approach both musically and visually, as the shows were stripped back compared to previous tours, harnessing the new punk rock attitude of the late 70s.

Showcasing many songs from the Some Girls album, celebrated for being the Rolling Stones’ most direct and diverse collection of music, and which by the time the band arrived in Texas, had gone to the top of the US charts, this concert demonstrates the sheer force and raw energy of The Rolling Stones live on stage.

Some Girls songs like “Miss You,” “Respectable,” “Beast Of Burden,” “When The Whip Comes Down,” and “Shattered,” weave into a set list which also includes “All Down The Line,” “Honky Tonk Women,” “Tumbling Dice,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Happy,” and “Brown Sugar.”

Originally shot on 16mm film, the concert footage has been carefully restored with the sound remixed and remastered by Bob Clearmountain from the original multi track tapes.

“Eagle is delighted to once again be working with the Rolling Stones on another landmark release highlighting an outstanding performance from the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band.”
- Lindsay Brown, Managing Director Operations & International, Eagle Rock Entertainment Ltd

Badlands record store in the UK are already sending out mailshots about it - and it appears that the CD is an audio version of the video footage.

It also contains a promising little teaser at the end  ...

THE ROLLING STONES
SOME GIRLS: LIVE IN TEXAS '78
One of the great Stones live albums unleashed on November 21st!

The Rolling Stones 1978 Tour was short sharp and to the point. Playing concise sets, the stripped down band was it its most raucous, sleazy and arrogant  - just what Stones fans love. Now a complete show from the tour, recorded at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, Fort Worth, Texas on July 18 1978 will be released on DVD/CD/Bluray on November 21st. Originally shot on 16mm film, the footage has been carefully restored and the sound remixed and remastered by Bob Clearmountain from the original multitrack tapes. This is an awesome and raunchy show - not to be missed!
