"Still a fool" for me it's the greatest outtake from the Brian Jones era and maybe from the entire studio sessions 1962-2018, couldn't believe why they didn't make Beggars a triple album, just with this and the singles you have the second record and the third with outtakes like Downtown Suzy later released in Metamorphosis, Familiy; Lady, etc

I included this song in my first radio special about Brian Jones, in 2006, probably the best combination of Brian and Nicky

By coincidence, George Thorogood has put TWO TRAINS on his new cd, plus several old numbers done by the early Stones and their own 2120 SO. MICHIGAN AVE.

You can catch a few seconds of each on Amazon:

Mick on harp. 100%. You can tell he's vocalising through the harmonica mike at 7:12 and 7:57.

The best Stones outtake ever IMO. Can understand why they left it off Beggars Banquet, though. A ten-minute cover on a record that only has room for about 45 minutes of music would have meant three or four Jagger/Richards songs being omitted, which is a shitload of lost publishing royalties.

This is why we collect unreleased material, folks.

Here's another from "TheKeefriff"

http://youtu.be/5kOqaTs-1Gg

Stuck Out All Alone sounds better than Still a Fool.imo. Their is a reason the Stones don't do 10 minute songs and their is a reason some songs are outtakes. Wouldn't repalce anything on BB with either of those songs. But it is always fun to hear the outtakes anyway.

Here's another one TheKeefriff just put up.
SFTD, 1975 at Madison Square Garden w/ Santana and (supposedly) Keith on bass.

Anyone know the story about this one?
Why would Keith go to bass rather than having three guitars, an where did that leave Bill?

In the early days of Napster, I found an unreleased Stones track which featured the lyrics "I won't fuck you too much." Mick and Keef traded vocals.
Been looking for it ever since.

Spot-on - and we have to ask ourselves: what on earth could they possibly omit to make room for it? Sympathy For The Devil? Stray Cat Blues???

'Prodigal Son' would certainly have been the obvious contender for the exit door as its also a blues cover. I'd imagine the levity of 'Dear Doctor' on an otherwise 'dark' album would have seen it stick out a bit like a sore thumb and maybe 'Factory Girl' would have gone too. Three songs I happen to like very much, and which whose omissions on an 8-track 'Beggars Banquet' would have made for a weaker album (I prefer all three of those songs to 'Jigsaw Puzzle' and 'Salt of The Earth' but I doubt that they'd have dropped either of those as both are quite long tracks which would have required quite a bit of work to put together)

Not sure I agree that there were enough finished songs of sufficient quality to warrant a double-LP. There were certainly enough for a CD however, although seeing that from a 2011 perspective is a bit pointless.

Gazza hits the nail on the head... and sadly b/c of the split with allen Klein, lost gems, really only made it out as bootlegs... I remeber when ABB came out, Back of my Hand reminded me of this song... I really wanted them to jam it out  long and just extend it... I just felt a connection between both songs... and it's b/c that sound and style is for me, the root of their music.

Yes.

Jigsaw Puzzle - good though it is - is the weakest song on the album for me.
