Nice to see I'm not the only one sick to death of Start Me Up. Not that I ever liked it in the first place. Shit!

me neither never figured what people heard in it, always seemed kinda disjointed off the cuff throwoff which seemed what they thought also till they reworked it

The really sick thing is when you look around the arena or stadium when they're playing it and you see everybody else going nuts while I cringe. Nanker

OK...40 Licks Tour...Washington DC at FedEx Field...SMU starts...my friend Richard and I look at each other, thinking, let's go stretch our legs a bit...this  blond, trashy, yet  kinda cute, woman, in the row in front of us , hoots, and yells: "YEAH!! This is MY song!!"

All I could think of was that out of the entire RS catalog...SMU was "Her Song"...what an effin, stupid, ( fill in the blank).

We never came back to our seats.

Exactly. A local radio station does a daily feature called 33 1/3. They play  one song on vinyl. So the other day on Mick's birthday I sent in several requests for a Stones song. Something deep, non warhorsey. I practically begged them. So what do they play to honor Mick's birthday. Start Me Up. I wanted to throw my fucking radio against the wall.

SMU gets all the glory because its the only record that non fans who came of age in the eighties connect with besides  Miss You, In 81 when it was released it got huge play on MTV and on the radio who have since frozen in time thirty years ago and play the same tune over and over again. video killed the radio star.........

Who the fuck goes out to stretch their legs (implying you were sitting down, fer gawd's sake!) in the middle of a Stones show?  Then doesn't return to his seat (please tell me these seats weren't close to the front!) because someone made a dumb comment?  Talk about "effin stupid"!  And don't try and tell me you wouldn't have done the dumb blonde if you'd had a shot.

Hey Brainy!

"Stretch our legs"...as in go take a piss...go get another beer...( I thought everyone had a "bathroom song")...and no...we got to sit elsewhere...to get different perspectives of the show...something which I often do at any show , at any size venue...and finally, even though I wasn't married at the time, NO!  I would not have just hooked up w/ some random trashy gal at a concert...A Stones concert is to loose your fucking mind with good friends while listening to some great music by great performers...getting a piece of ass at a concert in the port-a-john is what Motley Crue shows are for.
