Bill Clinton is still finding a way to hold summit meetings these days -- only now, his talks are with the king of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll.

The former president and Rolling Stone Keith Richards painted the town black Tuesday night at posh Craft restaurant near Gramercy Park, where they sat down with more than a dozen diners for a charity dinner.

Clinton had auctioned off the dinner during his birthday party last year to millionaire real-estate mogul Steve Bing, according to a spokesman for the ex-prez. The proceeds went to Clinton's foundation.

Celebrity chefs Mario Batali, Tom Colicchio and David Chang personally prepared the repast.

Clinton, Bing and the other guests -- including Chelsea Clinton and her hubby, Marc Mezvinsky -- began the meal at about 7:30 p.m. Richards, who is a pal of both Clinton and Bing, showed up about 45 minutes later.

"They were all sitting around a long table at the back of the room," said an onlooker. "Mr. Clinton was sitting opposite Mr. Richards, and they seemed to be getting along really well."

After three hours, Clinton -- a doggie bag in hand -- heading out of Craft with Richards.

"They must have really enjoyed their dinner because they hugged and shook hands with the chef after their meal," said an onlooker.

Yeah this is a true story, there was a short video clip of this event on the NY news last night. I saw KEEF standing in the back of the room by himself. I wondered why he was there at all except maybe for the charity. Still, KEEF could of just written a check and given his donation. It seems totally wierd to me. KEEF and politics just dont mix!

Keef recently met BILL CLINTON to discuss a guest slot on a new track.

The former President of the US of A plays saxophone - and Keef reckons that Bill is good enough to chip in on his music.

The unlikely pals, who were filmed together for MARTIN SCORSESE's ROLLING STONES film Shine A Light a few years back, had dinner last week to talk through their plans.

Asked about the meeting, Keith was coy, but hinted: "Unfortunately, it's under wraps - we talked about saxophones."

It can't be good for the lungs playing sax in a studio with a chain-smoker like Keef...

The Rolling Stones' guitarist Keith Richards' dedication to the band is second-to-none. The Sun reports that pair met up for dinner last week, fuelling speculation that something might be afoot though probably not with the Rolling Stones. Richards recently told USA Today that his long-dormant side project, the X Pensive Winos, might well be revived some time soon.

"There's a Wino-ish thing in the air," Richards said. "We've got a track or two."

So how would Bill Clinton figure in all of this? The former Commander-In-Chief is known to blow a mean horn, and Richards has hinted as much. Asked about the meeting, Richards cryptically replied, "Unfortunately, it's under wraps -- we talked about saxophones."

Fans of the veteran rockers are still holding out hope that the band will hit the road in 2012 to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
