Keith Richards To Be Honored With Brass Balls At Guys Choice 2011

Spike TV has announced that it will present one of its most celebrated honors to rock-n-roll giant Keith Richards during the 2011 “Guys Choice” event. Keith Richards will be awarded with the shows’ Brass Balls honor for his contributions to the music industry. Honors will be presented by Academy Award winning actor Robert De Niro. Taping Saturday, June 4th at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, CA, the fifth annual event premieres Friday, June 10 at 9:00 PM ET/PT.

"Keith Richards is a rock-n-roll super hero who lives his life the way he plays his music...balls to the wall,” said Casey Patterson, EVP, event production, talent and studio relations, Spike TV. "Our audience doesn't just want to honor Keith Richards, they want to be Keith Richards."

Born and raised in England, Keith Richards is widely considered one of the most iconic rock guitarists to ever grace the stage. In 1962, Richards teamed with Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, Brian Jones and Ian Stewart to form the Rolling Stones and, in 1963, the group signed with Decca Records, beginning a run atop the music industry with international smash hits such as “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” “Brown Sugar,” and “Start Me Up,” among many others. With Richards’ virtuoso guitar work prominent on each Stones song, Rolling Stone magazine named him the 10th greatest guitarist of all-time in 2003. In 2007, Richards was featured on the big-screen alongside Johnny Depp in the role of Captain Teague in“Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” and can most recently be seen in the same role in the recently released “On Stranger Tides.” In October 2010, Richards released his best-selling autobiography “Life,” which is nominated for a 2011 “Guys Choice” award in the Literary Achievement category. Richards joins luminaries Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford as Brass Balls recipients.

This is so fvcking funny! I wonder what KEEF said! KEEF looks genuinely pleased with this ridiculous award! I mean it's cool that KEEF is honored for his accomplishments but 'Brass Balls' sarcastic and funny!! OK When someone says 'you got brass balls' basically what that means you say and do anything with no fear because nothing can hurt you, so its very appropriate that KEEF got the award! Great pics!

Captain Keith: In a backstage full of stars, Keith Richards still managed to stand out as the absolute coolest guy in the house. He sauntered into the green room to find Robert De Niro to embrace and catch up. The conversation centered on real estate. "He wants my house and I want his," Richards explained. De Niro presented the Brass Balls award to Richards. When asked the craziest thing he had ever done to deserve the award, Richards responded, "I haven't done it yet." Then the rock star simply sauntered away.

Richards took the night's final honor, a lifetime achievement trophy previously given to the likes of Clint Eastwood. He hoisted the Brass Balls award, which resembles a giant dumbbell with spheres on two sides.

"I mean, I've had a few awards in my time," the rock legend said backstage. "With the balls it's like where to put them? It's easy to pick them up but where are you going to put them? I've got to figure that out with the wife."
