Dear Stonesfans,

Two months ago I launched the website: Undercover, covered by the Stones on regular albums and video/DVD. You can listen to both the original and the Stones version (83 songs)
The website is extended now, after many requests, with covered on bootlegs outtakes and live (an extra 67 songs !).
One fine example is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flD2f5vcuEo

There are so many great Jimmy Reed songs on Stones bootlegs and outtakes (only one on a regular album: Honest I do). Furthermore much Muddy Waters and many others.
For people who only listened to regular albums this might a very pleasant experience, there are some real gems there.
The lists are very wel documented, you find the important link and a literature list on the website.
There were many songs from which is known that they were covered by the Stones but I simply could not find them yet. I could use your help here !
Have fun and please let me know what you think.

Kind regards, Gerard

Great project!

Regarding other songs covered by the Stones (but not released), you might find this part of our setlists page of interest if you havent noticed it already.

http://rocksoff.org/liveperfofunr.htm

There are 82 songs there. although I dont think thats been updated since mid 2006.

They played a few more unreleased covers on the US fall 2006 leg

Wichita Lineman (Jimmy Webb)  (Wichita 1/10/06)
El Paso (Marty Robbins)  (El Paso 20/10/06)
(Both of them just a verse or so)

Bob Wills is Still The King (Waylon Jennings)
Learning The Game (Buddy Holly) - both played in Austin 22/10/06)
(Both released on 'Biggest Bang' DVD, but not on an official CD)

Thanks for the great list. Many are already on my website, but the documentation is very accurate, thanks again,

And I could still use some rare soundfiles: Covered by the Rolling Stones on bootleg, outtake or live !

Thanks to you, 10 new additions in 4 days time, not bad, keep up the good work even when it gets really difficult !

Covered by the Rolling Stones on bootleg, outtake or live, new additions on my website:

1.   It’s a Long Way To Tipperary
2.   Night Time Is The Right Time
3.   Nothing From Nothing
4.   Outa Space
5.   Maybe It’s Because I’m A Londoner
6.   Don’t Be Cruel
7.   Thirty Nine And Holding
8.   Shave Em Dry
9.   When You Got A Good Friend
10.   That’s Life

As usual you can both listen to the original song and the Stones-cover, I think this is getting more and more interesting and pretty soon extremely rare.

Indeed, a great project! Especially because most of the time it brings us back to the roots, and shows how the boys turned black blues to white blues. Listen for example to the original "Love In Vain" from Robert Johnson and you'll hear what a wonderful job The Stones did with this song. Again, fantastic idea, great site!!!
