Ronnie has been nominated for a "rising star" award for his radio work. He is up against Robbie Savage (an English footballer who fronts a show on radio 5). Just listening to the show on the way home from work, Ronnie contacted the show and offered free tickets to a Stones concert to everyone that votes for him.
(the voters are other radio people, not the public)

  Ouch!

..and in the small print, the shows will be in the US and you have to make your own way there.

Hilarious. No doubt the phones will be jammed with punters oblivious to the fact that the Stones have no gigs lined up.

Another contender in the illustrious history of 'Great Rolling Stones Offers for Non Existent Contests', a la pre-sale access for theatre shows on a tour where no such showes were ever announced, and rs.com's contest for an all-expenses trip to the 'Shine a Light' premiere - where they refused to announce the winners and which was quietly forgotten about when they realised it had been so poorly organised that it wouldnt have been cost effective.

And once Mick finds out about it.He'll make Ronnie pay for the tickets.  Blank Frigging Stare

The fact that he hasn't been thrown out of the band confirms the tour.

Well the thing is the vibe/attitude/tentative plans are to tour next year...

So Ronnie feels confident enough and will talk as if it's set totally in stone and everything is layed out perfectly and the papers are signed (when right now... it isn't that far along yet... but he takes it as "it is").

RONNIE: However, Ronnie is a loose cannon at the lips. The thing is he either spills the beans at the drop of a hat on actual plans that are supposed to be under wraps or he says "yes. sure. it's a deal. yeah...it's underway...and goin down ...yeppers" ...and it really has no solid bearing on anything actually concrete or truly official. That's just Ronnie. It's either totally going down and he blabbed it out at the drop of a hat OR it's not known if it's to come off or the plans are pretty tentative and he acts like it's already underway...

KEITH: Keith is always the one that alludes to a certain month or time frame and it usually happens... but like a year later .... It's like Keith is the boy who always cries wolf. Sure Keith ...you recorded in Febuary like you said... but it was a year later. He's always one to talk about ..."hey I got an itch"... "I'm plannin on rounding the boys up and gettin them in the studio very soon".... Yeah it happens but like a year later they go in... hahahaha (true though)

CHARLIE: Charlie is one dimensional and very limited in his responses...and he's calculated at it. He will admit there are plans but then that is IT. No more.

MICK: Mick is more allusive. He will simply admit they have talked about it some and that's it. Although, of all the people asked, it seems Mick is by far and away asked the least? Why is this? Because interviewers know it's taboo to ask Mick? Because they talk beforehand and agree it should not be part of the discussion? Gotta be something? He's very rarely asked... "Are The Stones planning on touring" or "What is going on with The Rolling Stones these days?" .... hes rarely asked...?? hmmmm gotta be somethin to that.

Or - as the post immediately preceding yours suggests, Ronnie was talking about The Faces, who do have upcoming gigs.

Check out the "All Ronnie" thread for an interview published yesterday in The Guardian.
He said he didn't know when the Stones will work again.

Back in 1981, Melbourne radio station EON-FM offered guaranteed tickets to the next Melbourne Stones show to all callers who rang in and answered a question that won Tattoo You. Ran for a week or so. Sister of my then girlfriend won tix! I was mighty pissed.

Trouble was, Stones didnt tour Oz until 1995! EON became 3MMM, and sure enough, they honoured the deal and the folks got their free tix. 1 of them, Max Crawdaddy, runs a blues show on 3RRR, a Melbourne community radio station.

I reckon i could have rung up and swindled my way in, but i already had tix.

Sister of ex-girlfriend lived in Queensland at the time and had absolutely no knowledge of it.
