get well soon... for what its worth, I have befriended a lawyer, he left his firm, instead of going partne he quitr, and he took on his own work, with less money and less stress. He works hard, but has alot of time and freedom to enjoy his kids. He's a really good dude, we talk after yoga class, and he always tells me how the guys he left behind at his old firm have all had serious heart and health issues, a few have died in the late 40's and 50's...
get well please... enjoy life, it is too short to waste. I have made major changes over the years you've known me... and after an injury last year, and a lifetime of horrible insomnia, I decided to say fuck it, and really jump into yoga, sex abuse therapy and go deeper into my recovery from alcoholism... for what its worth, i'm getting amazing results in just a few months. I'm not telling you to stop partying or even change your diet, but work stress may be a huge part of this. Work to live, but don't live to work... so, keep puffing the weed, go easy on the bbq and hard stuff and if you have to, quit the job and go solo... we only got a few good decades left, make them count.
All past BS aside, I mean this Nanky... I'd hate to have your name be used in memory.

This one was out of the blue!!

Started having some odd pains in my left shoulder blade and neck/jaw in November and December of last year. Thought it was an old muscle injury because I have never had ANY indications of heart issues.

My diet, while not perfect, was not centered on bacon and butter, despite what the tabloids say! I used to exercise like a mad-man for most of my adult life. Didn't smoke ciggies until only the last year or so, and even then only moderately. Had numerous EKGs and stress tests and blood work over the years -- all clean - bloodpressure was always good, cholesterol only elevated over the last year or so.

So aside from job stress (and Paul, thanks for the kind words, you are not kidding about the stress of lawyering), the BIG risk factor was genetics -- something you have no control over.

Mom's side of the family is LOADED with cardiac issues. Most men on that side have had angioplasty, bypass, pacemakers or heart attackas early in life. I thought I had it beat, but baby, let me tell you, don't get cocky with the ticker!!!

SO yeah, triple bypass last Friday.
Feeling great though - no pain, no discomfort, getting good sleep and (Meg) following the doctors' orders!!

The good news is, the surgery and medicines used to treat recurrence are amazing and there is every reason to believe that Gazza will indeed grab my balls again soon!

Thanks again all - get yourself checked up just to make sure!
