Lady Gaga, T-Pain, Keith Richards Recording at Germano Studios

Germano Studios has been going non-stop in 2011, between multiple months of lock-out sessions with Lady Gaga, and sessions with a host of other major artists.

Lady Gaga has been recording/mixing for "Born This Way" at Germano Studios, NYC
Gaga and crew have been working out of both Germano Studio 1 and Studio 2, recording and mixing her upcoming album, Born This Way – due out May 23 – and the title track lead single, released in February.

T-Pain has also been working at Germano Studios, recording vocals in Studio 2 with Levar “LV” Coppin producing and Javier Valverde engineering.

And Kelly Clarkson was in Studio 1 cutting basic tracks with Steve Jordan producing and Dave O’Donnell engineering.

Jordan has also been working with Keith Richards at Germano – the pair have been writing and recording in Studio 1, with O’Donnell engineering on those sessions as well. The Canadian Tenors tracked vocals recently at Germano with producer Desmond Child, and Christian Baker engineering.

In other recent sessions, Alicia Keys was at Germano recording with engineer Ann Mincieli, and The-Dream has been through working on new material.

For more information on Germano Studios – with its SSL Duality + Pro Tools HD5-equipped Studios with corresponding live tracking rooms – visit www.germanostudios.com.

Luxy, I'm sticking to my gut feeling.
As long as HEALTH is not an issue, they will NOT let the 50th Anniversary go by without some type of live performance.

This is great news!

Nice! Poked around sonicscoop and see they first reported about Keith and Steve Jordan back in December, and then again last month.

Wonder if he's actually been working at Germano on and off for the last few months, or if the website is just recycling the same info.

Either way, great to read that Keith's been writing and recording...

Great news but thinking about it, why wouldn't you wanna record in in the comfort of your own studio?

Faraway from Gaga and the others.

Studio taken out? Why wouldn't he just rent another one today?

All he has to say is, gimme a studio, and poof, it's there.

His wife was ill some time ago but she's ok now I think.

Well, we dont know if its Stones related or not. And the 'Mick is recording with Dave Stewart' story is from two months ago so I doubt he's still doing it. Plus it wasnt for a solo album as such.

For the most part, they've generally written and demoed stuff separately now for decades. If Keith had been working quietly in the privacy of his own home studio, we wouldnt have known anything about it and no one would have raised an eyebrow at it being 'odd'. Its just that he's chosen to do so in an actual studio in New York.

He's renting the one in New York! Why should it matter whether he records in New York, in his own home or in Joey's toilet?

I hope this is something more than jam sessions being recorded for posterity. I would LOVE for this to become the 3rd Winos album. Give me Keef singing AND playing at the same time and all will be good in my world.

I whole-heartedly agree. They will not "bill it" as a 50th anniversary tour and nor will they claim it has much relevance... yet the thought will be in the back of folks minds and they will certainly be ready to tour with that on the back-end of the table. It'll "work" nicely for them and they know it... even though it won't be touted as such.

I am sure it will be planned for next year as well ...  2013 would be too much a time stretch. They already wore the time line thin enough with waitin until 2012... Waiting another year to start it would be ridiculous... If they are to do it they gotta take it when health and the market is ready at this stage.

It matters bc it means if he is actually recording in a busy New York studio with a famed record producer it HAS to be for an official work of some sort, and not Keith simply diddling around as he did at his house is why...

You don't rent a room at a busy New York Studio with a famed record producer away from your home because you just want to piss around. It has to be projected toward something is why it matters. That's all.. (just sayin).

Maybe, although I'd personally see Steve Jordan more as a 'long time collaborator' than a 'famed record producer'.

He's written with Jordan before and the article states they're 'writing and recording'.

Why wouldnt they? They attached great relevance to an anniversary on the Licks tour. Even the title of the career-spanning compilation that promoted it contained a number which, not by coincidence, referred to the number of songs AND the number of years they'd been together.

There'll probably be another compilation released by the time they tour again. They'll absolutely milk the significance of the milestone, make no mistake.

They're at a stage now where they basically need to find an excuse to tour. Being artistically driven to record new songs and perform them isn't one of them. Neither it seems is just going on the road because they enjoy it. The fact that it's their 50th anniversary will be their main justification to tour again. That, and the financial rewards reaped by it.

Absolutely. And its not as if Keith has been so prolific in recent years that he's likely to be in a position where he can cherrypick songs for each of the two bands.

Plus, both of those Winos albums took ages to come out.

Well it wasn't "officially" a 40th anniversary tour is what I am saying, and The Stones themselves said they weren't touring based on that premise.  Now, did they "Milk the significance of it" ... well of-course... which what I think they will do this time.  That's more over what I meant.

They say a lot of things which don't hold up to the slightest bit of scrutiny or analysis. That was certainly one of them.

He co-produced the Winos albums. I'm not saying he's not 'producing' a record with him (I've no idea of he is or not), just that all we know is that theyre writing and recording together.

Kid Rock regrets his stage name

Kid Rock is regretting his stage name now that he has hit 40 because he says a middle-aged man shouldn't be rocking the moniker "Kid," according to WENN.com.

The "Cowboy" hitmaker, who was born Robert Ritchie, selected his alter-ego when he was a teenager, and he accepts he may have made a mistake.

He says, "The only person who had a dumber name than me was the Fresh Prince (Will Smith). Hey, it sounded like a cool rap name when I was 16, but it stuck, and now it's me. I'll be an 88-year-old man (saying), 'Call me the Kid!'"

OFFSTAGE: Kid Rock Does Not Hang Out With Assholes

There's a nice interview with Kid Rock in the May issue of Esquire. Actually, "nice" is probably the wrong word. "Honest" might sum it up more aptly. In this "What I've Learned" story, Rock gives away such gems as "don't hang out with assholes" and "I don't do hookers, man. I'm in a rock band" and then "(Expletive) Kid Rock, he's a piece of (expletive), white-trash whatever. I'm like, you wouldn't say that to me in a (expletive) bar. You'll get your (expletive) wig peeled back. So don't sit behind your computer and type it." He also talks about his feelings for Hollywood. Mainly how "every douchebag, scumbag, scumsucker shows up and sets up shop and tries to figure out how to roll people." But he's not all cuss words and bad attitude. He talks about how his grandparents were square-dancing fools and died too young. And then he tells the story about how Kenny Chesney caught him up really early one morning, while he was getting his son off to school. But he didn't worry about what that would do to his image. "Make no mistake: Bob Ritchie's up early in the morning taking pictures of his son on the first day of his senior year. Kid Rock is passed out in a hotel room somewhere with four scantily-clad women," he boasts.

For a moment there, I thought this Kid Rock thing was going to lead to Keith.

Glad it didn't.

I hope this is something more than jam sessions being recorded for posterity. I would LOVE for this to become the 3rd Winos album. Give me Keef singing AND playing at the same time and all will be good in my world.

I too would like to see a third Winos record.

Doesn't make a lot of sense what with Keith being all but dried up since 1997 based on his output. If they were serious about new music they would do what they did in 2004 by regrouping at Mick's house in France.

The negativity continues!

Keef is his own man. He does what he wants to do, when he wants to do it.  He's an artist. The muse is close to him right now.  We can either ignore him or enjoy it. I'll be enjoying whatever he drops on us.

If you do feel Keith dried up 14 years ago, there's plenty to listen to that he released from 62-97.

Er...and your point it? There's no negativity, you're speculating and I'm just looking at the cold hard facts. Let me also remind you of that infamous Uncut interview from late 2003 (2004?) where Keith basically said he didn't feel the Stones needed to record any new music. Just a fat cat happy to cash in...and trash the guy who made him rich as we found last year.

He's in the studio doing something. He's just not standing there. No speculation there.  Did you see the video of Keith in the studio on his website?

Bigger Bang came after the uncut interview, which renders it pointless to reference.

Well. I'm glad Keith is practicing again.

I don't like to look too deep into things but here are the facts...

Keith doesn't owe us another lick.

It's the best if he's in the studio again doing something. God Bless Him.

The man in nearning 70 and time did take a toll. Normal.

He can't play like he used to. Normal.

Yet again, he could have a surpise left in the bag for us all. Not normal, but Genius.

If he doesn't have a suprise left, maybe Blondie can GIVE him some like on Rough Justice... Ouch!

Blondie knows how to Keith, and Keith is God.

There are more Riffs out there, surprised people close to Keith don't offer any help...

Not that it really matters but Mick had a better chance of making it alone than Keith, but my point was that Keith feels it is of interest to trash Mick each time he has a chance instead of worrying about music, the Sir, the tiny todger, etc...this is beyond pathetic.
