Kid Rock regrets his stage name
Kid Rock is regretting his stage name now that he has hit 40 because he says a middle-aged man shouldn't be rocking the moniker "Kid," according to WENN.com.
The "Cowboy" hitmaker, who was born Robert Ritchie, selected his alter-ego when he was a teenager, and he accepts he may have made a mistake.
He says, "The only person who had a dumber name than me was the Fresh Prince (Will Smith). Hey, it sounded like a cool rap name when I was 16, but it stuck, and now it's me. I'll be an 88-year-old man (saying), 'Call me the Kid!'"
OFFSTAGE: Kid Rock Does Not Hang Out With Assholes
There's a nice interview with Kid Rock in the May issue of Esquire. Actually, "nice" is probably the wrong word. "Honest" might sum it up more aptly. In this "What I've Learned" story, Rock gives away such gems as "don't hang out with assholes" and "I don't do hookers, man. I'm in a rock band" and then "(Expletive) Kid Rock, he's a piece of (expletive), white-trash whatever. I'm like, you wouldn't say that to me in a (expletive) bar. You'll get your (expletive) wig peeled back. So don't sit behind your computer and type it." He also talks about his feelings for Hollywood. Mainly how "every douchebag, scumbag, scumsucker shows up and sets up shop and tries to figure out how to roll people." But he's not all cuss words and bad attitude. He talks about how his grandparents were square-dancing fools and died too young. And then he tells the story about how Kenny Chesney caught him up really early one morning, while he was getting his son off to school. But he didn't worry about what that would do to his image. "Make no mistake: Bob Ritchie's up early in the morning taking pictures of his son on the first day of his senior year. Kid Rock is passed out in a hotel room somewhere with four scantily-clad women," he boasts.
