I'd like to see Charlie tell Cohl etc. to lower ticket prices. I too would like to focus on the music, since laying out obscene amounts of money on tickets distracts us all from the tunes!

Well according to this press release from Universal it would appear their touring days are over:
From Universal Music Group comes an ad for their new singles box set which states:

Known as the Greatest Rock'n'Roll Band in the World, the Rolling Stones is celebrating their success with a new digital and physical box set release in April. While their stadium packing, record-breaking tour days seem to be over, the music they produced remains classic and fans around the world are ready for a re-release.

Is there a link to "this press release"?

The promo info posted at Universal Music Group's website - UMe To Release CD Singles Box Set From The Rolling Stones - makes no mention of touring in the past tense.

Known as the Greatest Rock'n'Roll Band in the World, the Rolling Stones is celebrating their success with a new digital and physical box set release in April. While their stadium packing, record-breaking tour days seem to be over, the music they produced remains classic and fans around the world are ready for a re-release. The Rolling Stones Singles (1971-2006) box set will contain forty-five 45s, including all of the top singles they produced over that 40 year span.

US favorites and number one hits, including 'Brown Sugar', 'Miss You', and 'Angie' will be featured in the set, along with fan favorites 'Don't Stop' and 'Mixed Emotions'. But the box set will also contain new recordings from the Rolling Stones never before released. Most of these will be in the form of quality covers of classic rock and blues songs. This list includes Bob & Earl's 'Harlem Shuffle, 'Ain't Too Proud to Beg' by the Temptations, Bob Dylan's 'Like a Rolling Stone', 'Let It Rock' from Chuck Berry and Smokey Robinson's 'Going to a Go-Go'.

Fans who prefer the Stone's most recent work will also be happy to hear favorites like 'Biggest Mistake', 'Streets of Love' and 'Rain Fall Down'. The combination of new and classic material makes this box set the ultimate collector's item for any Rolling Stones or classic rock fan. The collection begins in 1971, when the band had already reached the number one spot in the UK's singles charts eight times over. However, this was the year they left the UK and expanded to the rest of the world. The constant travel the band undertook during this time shows in the variety of styles they explored during the 70s.

The box set features a bright pink box emblazoned with the trademark lips and tongue that is the symbol of all things Rolling Stones. 45 cds capture the full breadth of this band's remarkable career, accompanied by a 32 page book containing rare photos and essays by Rolling Stones experts and band members.

Thanks, Angie.

Doubt the Stones intended to make their future plans known via a selective sales e-mail.
Just a bit of hyperbole, imo.

Does make you wonder, though. Whoinhell proofread and approved it?

"...the Rolling Stones is celebrating..."

From today's La Vanguardia in Barcelona Spain:

Watts: "I'm in this for my love of the rhythm"

...
Charlie Watts in London on March 9.
GYI

Translation is again loose and dicey, but here's some of the Q&A:

LV: What's the level of involvement when you play drums in the most famous band on the planet or with these three friends?
CW: Exactly the same. I can't speak for the others, but I'll have the same creative and emotional feeling playing tonight in Vienna with Axe, Ben and Dave as in a large stadium with the Stones. It's a question of love for the music and a desire to enjoy the rhythm. I can assure you that if I didn't enjoy what I do when I get on stage, I'd have long ago left the Stones or any other project.

LV: Speaking of them (Stones), when will they return to activity?
CW: I'm not going to answer that question. All I'll say is that next year will be the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the group, and right now none of the four members of the group knows what will happen in 2012. There may be a tour, or there may not.

LV: There's also talk of an album almost completed.
CW: I can't add anything more. Not at this time, I'm sorry.

La Vanguardia

Charlie just wants to play some boogie woogie right now, and he'll worry about that other band later...

Technically I agree. However, I think he meant the whole enchilada/process (recording/tour etc) because he said they plan on doing "it" again in it seemed a gist of as in ... they are planning on another ordeal again from what I made of it.

Without being overly optimistic... but to me he kina said it like "yep ...and were planning on it again" as in ...everything.

Well to Charlie it "is" painful a bit ..he he.. or so he kina claims but ... we all know the truth. It's a love/hate thing with him and like the others ... he digs it deep down. Lets face it ...none of them have long since needed the cash. He could of long ago said he's fine on his funds and wants to primarily raise horsyes and such.

We all know he digs it. Smiley ...even though it's a pain in the arse to him in a sense. hah
